Hi all,
I recently acquired a TDS 744A scope that has a weird issue that I suspect may be due to a bad calibration ( my guess is a failed cal attempt during a previous repair, possibly after changing the attenuators, but I can't confirm this). SPC passes repeatedly, caps were replaced years ago with no trace of corrosion, so the usual suspects are probably not the cause here. (more details than anyone wants, + screenshots of the problem : https://forum.tek.com/viewtopic.php?f=568&t=139180 )
I read a lot of posts here and on the Tek forums regarding the infamous "field adjust" software (in particular the very interesting 744A -> 784A conversion !). I have an idea of the hassle to get the whole setup working perfectly, from the DOS computer with ISA slots, to the +17dbm capable signal generator, etc..
I was wondering if a kind soul in eastern Canada (QC, NB, ON...), or even nearby US states (maybe NY/VT/ME ?) had such a setup working, and wouldn't mind me sending / bringing my scope over for a calibration attempt ? At the very least, I'm willing to supply food and beer for the duration of the process : )
In the meantime, I'm figuring out a way to dump the two EEPROMs through the internal "cardedge console port". I'm running tests using the "libManagerWordAt()" function for this, which seems to work, but I'm not sure if it maps the address space the same way as the GPIB commands.
Thanks !
