TE & Humidity
(1/1)

Hi Guys,
I'm an expat living in Thailand now. I have set up a nice lab with lots of modern test
equipment. Scope, Spectrum analyzer, power supplies, various meters, etc.
So far, everything has been working quite well for many years. However, we do have
very high humidity here. When it's dry and sunny, it might be as low as 55% RH, on
a rainy day, it can be as high as 90%RH.
Is this something I should worry about? I do let me equipment warm up as recommended
by the manufacturers, and often let it warm up twice the recommended time.
Even when I run the A/C all day long, I don't see the humidity decrease. But then, I ran
the A/C only during office hours.
Any ideas, recommendations, suggestions?
Many Thanks,
luudee

well i would say you have to be more in control of the room temperature and humidity if you do really serious stuff ...
it can play tricks
do you have an dehumidifier ??
Messtechniker:
Measure the absolute (not relative!) humidity outside and inside. i.e. g/m3. Open the windows (either manually or maybe even automatically) when the absolute humidity outside is lower than the inside humidity.
Doing so helped me reduce the relative humidity level in my basement lab to 50% - 60 % in extreme cases (hot and rainy summer) to 70%. No more water condensation on the basement floor and on the equipment standing on the floor.
Anyway its worth a try before getting a dehumidifier which will have electricity costs. :scared:
