Looks an impressive scope for the 350MHz to 1GHz category ;)

Gunna have one pass though my hands in the next week and will have a quick fiddle with it before passing it on.

Thread about them:

BTW, both the above vids are available here:

I don´t get it...

It´s obvious that siglent is influenced by the joint-venture with lecroy, in several cases, in positive meaning.

But why the still the toy-like design... ::)

And also interesting:

Rigol´s 7000 series like Siglents 5000s are fishing in the pond of R&S RTB scopes...But the 10bit thing seems a big hurdle for anyone else except R&S.

Yes but in one the E-Res works.  :P

I don't know about that. This siglent scope looks like the real deal and the company has got its act together. I was just wondering when there was going to be a chinese contender in this particular market segment and I think this maybe it ;)

But someone has to pick it apart to see what the state of the firmware is and perhaps do a good head-to-head comparison with the A-brands.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

I'd agree with that. It looks like a good serious tool but with so little data out there I just don't know.

Also I don't want that data to be from a dealer, I'd like to at least think I'm getting an unbiased opinion. Perhaps there is someone we all mostly trust that could take a look... I don't know.

"toy look" may be subjective, i find the rigols to be toys in that aspects :) both physical and screen UI
All i can say for now is: yes, it mimics lecroy in many of the good things, the touch user interface is very well implemented, roll mode is what it should be IMHO (read: scan mode like tektronix do) the firmware is solid in the sense that i can use it all day without crashing it, no showstopper bugs for me

There are some bugs, some things i would do differently, some things i would have to be added and all have been forwarded to whosit.
Ask away, i'll try to see if i can help you. Bottom line, for the price it's a fantastic product :) and given the fact that it's the TOP of the siglent line it's not going to miss features because stupid market segmentation policy (for example, same scope platform, same hardware, different options availability like R&S do. See RTM,RTH)

There are some bugs,
This doesn't help to instill confidence in the oscilloscope.  >:D Can you elaborate further? Did you do some kind of functional testing during an evaluation period?

It's not nearly as toyish as Rigol. Imagine it in black and it would look a lot like LeCroy.
Honestly I think that it's part of the arrangement with LeCroy to use black only for ("real") LeCroy scopes. E.g. the Wavesurfer 3000 for the western market was black and the SDS3000 for the Asian market had that beige Siglent color.
Side note: some time ago, LeCroy started rebranding Siglent scopes (again) but they kept the beige color this time. I assume that no LeCroy engineering went into these and someone decided they don't deserve to be black:
https://teledynelecroy.com/oscilloscope/t3dso1000-series-oscilloscopes

Rigol´s 7000 series like Siglents 5000s are fishing in the pond of R&S RTB scopes...But the 10bit thing seems a big hurdle for anyone else except R&S.
The DS7000 is more expensive than the SDS5000 even taking into account the current discounts and it doesn't even reach 1GHz. Actually the fact that they added a bandwidth upgrade on top of the free options discount shows that the DS7000 isn't selling well - probably because it's much too expensive for what it is.
Regarding R&S, the RTB line is the entry line without probe supply/detection, only goes up to 350MHz etc. So a fairer comparison for the SDS5000  would be the RTM3000 line which is far more expensive (500MHz base model costs ~12k€ compared to ~6k€, not taking into account that all options are very expensive).
And about the 10bit: several LeCroy lines (HDO, WaveMaster Pro) have 12bit converters since quite some time. The 500MHz 4 channel HDO4054 costs around 18k€ though which is quite a bit more than a R&S RTA4K-54 for ~14k€.

SDS1102X-E, SDS1104X-E and SDS1204X-E models.
Of note is the SDS1102X-E (100 MHz 2ch) that has not otherwise been released to western markets, probably the only one in the wild is the pre-release one that Dave was sent before the SDS1202X-E 200 MHz version was decided as only for western markets.
