Hello all
I'am new on this forum.
We need to buy an extra entry level oscilloscope (osc) for my workplace.
I have been looking at tek TBS2204B & Keysight MSO-X 2024A.
So, I must decide which one to choose.
In doing so, I need your help.
Our lab is current equipped with the following osc:
OSC1: Keysight 6000 series
OSC2: Keysight 4000 series
OSC3: the predecessor of the tek TBS2204B
So, you can say, that our new extra entry level osc do not need to have more advanced features (like mixed signal & segmented memory), as the 2 Keysight osc already have these features. But of course, if it has it and if it does not compromised more important needs (such as easy of use), it is well received.
The 200 MHz BW & the 1 GSample/s sample rate (4x channels) fits very well for our signals of interest.
OUR PRIMARY NEEDS (for the new one):
Ease of use
What do you think about it ?

IMHO the Tektronix TBS2000B series is a very nice bare bones oscilloscope for use by less experienced people. I use the previous version (regular TBS2204) at a customer every now and then and for what it does, I like it. Crisp screen, easy to use and what is there just works as expected.

I somehow have an impression that the Tek's entry level scopes (Used two and it's common, but don't recall the exact model number) have terrible user experience due to the lagging UI. The Keysight ones I use daily are much more responsive comparing to it.
Edit: Also consider the Chinese ones, Rigol and Siglent, they are very cost effective and do a proper job.

Why not the DSOX-1204A?

Those are the MDO3000 and MDO4000 models and -from what I have read- slow down when they need to do heavy math or decoding.

I've no experience with the MSO-X 2024A, but the Tek TBS2204B is a very nice albeit not cheap 'basic' oscilloscope. And it's not so terribly basic, just not cutting edge at its price point. It does have TekVPI, which allows you to use some very advanced probes if necessary.
