Tektronix 576 Curve Tracer Camera Adapters
(1/1)
NF6X:
I am looking for any of the oscilloscope camera mounting adapters for my 576 curve tracer. Even photos of them would be helpful, because I have not yet found any details other than mentions in this brochure:
I see a couple of ratty looking C-70 cameras on eBay at the moment, but neither one includes any mounting adapter.
I expect that if and when I get my hands on a matching camera system for my 576, it will be nearly useless since the film for them hasn’t been made for ages. I wonder if anybody has managed to adapt any of the suitable Tektronix oscilloscope cameras to use film which is still produced?
I would be interested in making an adapter to photograph my 576 screen with my Canon DSLR. I don’t know enough about photography yet to know how to select a lens that will provide a distortion-free image of the screen from a practical distance. Can anybody help educate me about this?

Hi NF6X,
"Amplifier.cd" made a nice adaptor himself:

and a follow-up:

Good luck

Hi,
I have been following this thread for a while since I bought a Tektronix 576 curve tracer just recently. I was looking for a C-70 camera (as seen in the brochure OP posted) on eBay but found none with the proper curve tracer adapter. However, there was a "lucky catch". I saw a "random" Tektronix C-59 camera with a "suspicious" adapter frame, which was a bit larger than the usual Tek 7000 series (e. g. 7603 or 7613/7904) adapter frames. I bought the Tektronix C-59 camera just out of curiosity and was quite lucky. The camera came with a Tek 016-0288-00 adapter which fitted very well on the Tektronix 576 curve tracer frame. Unfortunately, there was no corrector lens delivered - it's necessary in order to be able to photograph a large field of view from a relatively small distance, otherwise the image will be distorted.
I'll try to retrofit the C-59 camera with a digital camera (e. g. Raspberry Pi camera or any other digital camera which will do the job).
The amplifier.cd project looks nice. I've considered this but I am too lazy and got too much money :-DD
Shameless self-promotion ;D : You can visit my homepage gallery if you want to see more high-quality photographs of the camera, adapters and curve tracer... Unfortunately EEVblog permits only 5 MB uploads in total.

That was a lucky catch, indeed! Thank you for sharing the detailed photos. I like the way Tektronix used the adapter to connect the camera's 7000-series camera contacts to the 576's camera connector. That's an interesting detail which I didn't anticipate. I have seen references to corrector lenses in the camera manuals, but I haven't seen what one of them looks like. There are various Tektronix lenses on eBay which do not include shutters or apertures, and I wonder if any or all of them are corrector lenses.
