I replaced the batteries in my DM5010's with CR-123 lithium primary cells with a diode in series to block the charge voltage and drop the battery voltage.   The original NiCad batteries could self-discharge enough after around 3-4 months of storage to lose the cal values.   I've had CR-123's last 10 years.
