Getting TekVisa to work with Keysight 82357B
« on: March 07, 2020, 04:22:04 pm »
So I have an 82357B adapter, how do to I get the Tektronix software to talk to a TDS3064B hung off this?

I installed the KeySight Instrument Control Bundle to get the driver for the 82357B.   Keysight Connection Expert sees GPIB0::14::INSTR and KeySight Interactive IO tool can send *IDN? and get the expected result:

TEKTRONIX,TDS 3064B,0,CF:91.1CT FV:v3.39 TDS3GV:v1.00 TDS3LIM:v1.00 TDS3FFT:v1.00 TDS3TRG:v1.00

BenchVue appears to be a waste of space - it doesn't even know about a 3458A!!!

All that Tektronix OpenChoiceDesktop shows me when I press "Select Instrument" is ASRL1::INSTR

So please what's the magic incantation to make this all work?

Thanks
David

I tried to use TekVISA at one point.  It wasn't used to talking to the instrument through GPIB but rather to use the Ethernet.  For GPIB, I just controlled it like any other GPIB instrument.

In my case, that particular bit of equipment was actually slower using TekVISA with Ethernet than using GPIB!!    :-DD

In your case, the Tektronix software may not support the Keysight GPIB controller you are trying to use.
