Hello mates,
since CDMA is long dead (at least, here in Brazil) some Tek + R&S CMD-80 communications testers are poping up very cheaply.
Would this device be useful as a general purpose spectrum analuzer (maybe with a tracking gen) or is it a very specific device with no other use?
Im interested in using this device in HAM frequencies (144 and 440Mhz, basically)

Just take a look at the datasheet or the manual. It just supports 800/900 MHz and 1800 MHz cellular bands. It doesnt even have a spectrum analysis function.
There is just one useful purpose. Tear it down and use the screen or the power supply for your broken SME/SMT/SMP/SMIQ signal generator. They should be compatible.

Tks by your reply but I do not own any R&S equipment.
To be honest, I'm kind of afraid of their stuff. They share little to none service information and spare parts are realy expensive...
