Tektronix TDS5104 Re-installation Software?
« on: July 31, 2013, 02:20:12 pm »
Hi,

I currently have two TDS5104's both with failing HDD's. I can source replacement disks, however i cannot seem to source the re-installation software needed to rebuild the OS.

If anybody has any links to download an ISO that would be much appreciated

Thanks
T.

You could try cloning the disks into the new disks  :-//

Or maybe asking nicely to Tek could get you the CDs (or whatever they use) mailed.

are they compatible with 71xx series ?

the problem with those machines is that they have a hidden partition holding the Vxworks for the powerpc.
the powerpc stalls the main computer until it has loaded its thing, then it lets that loose.
and there are different versions of the motherboard, each with a different boot image ...

I know this is late in the game, but the operating system software may be available from Tektronix, depending upon your serial number, for $79.  The scope software is a free download.

How do you like this scope?

If they still work, you should clone the drives ASAP.  Upgrading to an SSD with an IDE to SATA adapter isn't a bad idea.
