SR1 or APx525

I'm shopping for an audio analyzer for our lab. Our labmates are big fans of the SRS SR1 thanks to the built in monitor and front panel controls, which I admit are very nice. I'm pushing for the APx525, which despite being much more expensive should be in budget. My main reason for wanting it is the extra bandwidth, which would be very useful for my work. That said, have people compared the software on the SR1 to the APx525? I'm arguing that if we buy a decent laptop and duct tape it to the analyzer, this should be fine. However, if the software is super user-unfriendly I don't want anyone to hold any grudges against me! Does anyone have any thoughts?
