Tektronix VX1410A
« on: November 15, 2024, 12:49:57 am »
Well I wanna know if anybody knows a company that can repair the Tektronix VX1410A cages? I got in contact with Tektronix and they mention that it's obsolete and there is no replacement. So now I'm looking at other repair sources. Any help pointing me in the right direction would help a lot.

Hi Mynameisntdj,

When the Power Supply isn't working you can use the one of a Standard TLA7016. Both use the same Power Supply Module (119-5553-00). See also Page 9-2 of attached Document. I said Standard, because there are also High Power TLA7016's which have another Mains Connector and Partnumber.

Thanks a lot for that info. I'll search for one to purchase. I have about 3 or 4 of these I've accumulated at work over the years with the same problem.

We used Tektronix logic analyzer and CPU plugins in a HP VXI crate successfully. I mean if you can get any working VXI crate, that should work as well

I have some TLA711/720/721 VXI mainframes that I don't use. I'm not sure if they all have the same 119-5553-00 power supply. I would have to check. I might consider parting the mainframes out for just the power supplies. They are easy to remove. The power supplies are heavy and shipping probably wouldn't be cheap, but still reasonable. Shipping an entire VXI mainframe would probably be too expensive to be reasonable.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. If I can prove that it truly is a power supply issue I can probably convince some of the higher ups to look at purchasing your stock. I currently have the unit open on my work desk picking apart the supply

So power supply was not the issue. Found a faulty 555 timer on the backplane PCB. Replaced and fixed. 1 fixed 3 or 4 more to go.
