Yes, every year each of the European countries write a song and then have a huge music show with each country performing their song in the country of the previous years winner. Then each country gets to vote for their favorites and its the winner of that vote the gets to host the show/contest next year.

Now I expect any second one of the Aussies to chime in like: Kangaroo ears are much bigger!

On TE repairs:
I am still looking for
Nut, Plain, Hex: 0.312"-32 x 0.438", BRS, CD PL
and a
Washer, Flat: 0.312" ID x 0.469" OD x 0.031
as well as a
Washer, Lock: 0.32" intl, 0.015" thk, STL
(3 each)
and I will waive the original coating (sigh).

So could anyone help with those in a contemporary finish?

I may be wrong here but I do believe that was another name he was using for jugs, she used to a topless girl on page 3 of the Sun newspaper.

I doubt the protester helped though, but we are shit and we have been for years.

Does the BBC really want to have to fork out megabucks to host the next year's show? If not, then make sure you don't win.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

You don't want to know, trust me.

Just be glad you don't know, and leave it at that.

Fox's funbags are very clearly preserved in my memory, and I can't have seen them in thirty years. They must have made an impression on the youthful me without me being very aware of it. Having a photographic memory would be great if I had any control whatsoever over the shutter button.

Back on subject. I've decided how to proceed with this 2465. First, the sweep cal issue. In short, I'm leaving it as is. I went thru the service manual on how to calibrate the sweep and basically I don't have the right equipment and quite frankly the patience to do it. It is crazy complex. And I suspect that the last individual who calibrated the scope in 2001 wasn't careful and basically dumped crap into the EAROM. But it isn't off by much so it's acceptable. What I really care about is waveform integrity and vertical gain accuracy. It's spot on for that. So if I need to make critical frequency measurements I'll use the 2465 DMS. It's sweep is dead nuts plus it has the built in frequency counter good to 150MHz.

The PSU: Yea, I should pull the power supply boards just to be on the safe side. And I'll do a full re-cap. But I'm deferring that until sometime over the Summer. Other projects, such as the 465, will get done first.

*cough* Thirdhand? The Eurovision song contest was first broadcast in 1956, the Gong Show was first broadcast in 1976. We produce this rubbish, then your countrymen copy it and lap it up. Oh, and of course American Idol (2002) was based on the UK's Pop Idol (2001) and produced by the same Brit, Simon Fuller.

Hardly surprising this whole thing, it's not as if your countrymen don't have previous form: "New Amsterdam", "New York". If you fancy a change again you could try "New Stevenage".  :)

It's even worse than that..... Trump claims to have invented the catch-phrase he used on The Apprentice USA, but the "USA" bit should be a clue that it wasn't the first. He ripped off Amstrad's Alan Sugar who fronted the original UK show. Sad!  :)

Talking of TEA things that tempt me but I'm not going to bite on, there's a FLUKE 5440B Direct Voltage Calibrator going as a buy it now for £450 on ebay UK if anybody's interested. Start your own home cal lab!

If I lived in the UK I'd made an offer already. This is the thing I'm sorely missing! £450 isn't really much if it works.

Problem being of course is that it would need it to be calibrated first once you repaired it [emoji48]

From mobile device so predictive text might have struck again [emoji83]

Just calibrate it comparing it to your DMM, then use it to calibrate the DMM again. Problem solved.

Haha, save the time and money and just believe that your DMM is displaying the correct value, that's job done [emoji48][emoji48]
