maybe repositioning the steering wheel to the proper side caused a major discombobulation?
the old man did love the damn thing........although he rarely go to drive it, since the dealer had it more than he did.

in 1986 my old man was 'bout the only guy in the greater philly area to buy a racing green import called a "cortina". what a piece of dog shit it was. every morning before cranking it over he had to look underneath to see what had spontaneously fallen off it overnight. the ford dealer never could make it right and finally took it back (he got a torino to replace the little green turd).
to this day he loves that damn cortina.
and I love my 1740 series scopes.

That's no surprise. Because the Cortina was.....
ahem.....

Just got a email stating my best offer was declined , and someone bought the items.
It is one of those cases where you should have accepted the buy it now price , and went with it. If a price is too good , you should just buy it. I didn't need them , just wanted them.
I feel sad :'( , but thankfully I found out there was less in my account then anticipated :phew:.

The Mk4 was a better riding car than the Mk1, that was bloody bone shaker.

My first car was a Cortina Mk1 SW in the mid 70's and it was all I could afford. Blew the engine then rebuilt it then crashed it and panel beat it adding significant front ballast in the form on panel bog. :-DD Nearly got what I paid for it back to buy a 1600 crossflow Mk3 sedan. Used to race a mate home most nights, he had a Mk3 facelift 1600 OHC and could pull away on the straights but I had better tires and could always catch him on the corners. Neither of us had enough power to pass the other once they got ahead. Good times. :)
After that came another Mk3 2L OHC in bright metallic Kelly green and it looked super smart all polished up. Had that one until I got married then got a Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport and that was a great little car. Even back then it had some go but could also be cheap on a trip. A 3000 mile trip we did for our belated honeymoon got 38mpg.
That was the last Ford I owned and most likely ever !
Been on the GM side since with Aussie Holdens as our main driver. :phew:
