Hope the IC works :-DD --- End quote --- Good job. I'm thinking about those knobs on the AC/DC/GND selector. I wish I had some to play with because I want to try a reconditioning idea with some modelling paints (not colored paint mind you ...). Might or might not work. Hmmm oh well if I ever got some I might do it. --- End quote --- Yeah those are slightly irritating. Dipping them in enamel might be an option :-// --- End quote --- 3DP. mnem You know you want to. >:D --- End quote --- Is rather have inferior originals than inferior replacements :-DD --- End quote --- Did you have a look in beanflyings thread ? This was easy to find: https://www.yeggi.com/goto/mJ6jmHl/se7iqZvd2ael4M/M1sLDdvbx9p2Z9u7jzOjm1ue0laHb67tz2trP2NLRuKun5ctjmeHSZKraz8LBgH15saurnQ== --- End quote --- Yeah I found that as well. I have a big problem with this approach if I'm honest. The issue is the material rather than damage or integrity as such as they are perfectly functional still. The problem that people seem to ignore is when you think about it for prolonged periods, particularly when slightly pissed on a bus, which is the best point of introspective clarity (no comment about this evening's activity - hic), there are flaws in the concept. Applying this to 3DP, when you have it in your hands, it's not the same. It lacks the authenticity, the quality and the transient imperfection of the original part which means you're sacrificing some of the sensory joy and satisfaction. Thus I believe I should probably look at the following priority stack when making repairs: 1. Enjoy it how it is if it isn't functionally flawed. 2. Make good and mend. 3. Replace with authentic part. 4. Maybe manufacture a new part. 3DP is the last resort. |

Then the decision will be made for you. ;) Today's printers are a lot better... 0.12mm LH and 0.2mm nozzle support right out of the box on my CR-6SE. I'm very pleased with the little fiddly bits I've been able to make with it. You might try painting the originals with epoxy to strengthen the plastic, then paint that with Testor's acrylic enamel. Worth taking a gamble. :-// mnem :-/O |
