Big XP fan - till everyone stopped supporting it - no viruses ever  - every Ham program ran on it well.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

I moved to Win 7 because of some features it had that XP didn't - but I only made that move because I could run XP mode.  An (older) workflow critical piece of software wouldn't run on Win 7 - but it does run in XP mode.

XP and earlier were unfortunately fatally flawed from an architecture point of view. That's why UAC and Vista turned up.

Wow, you are on a roll here, cant compete against your script, I was umming and erring over if I should buy an Exetech 740 DMM with all the various temperature probes including a clamp on probe for pipes etc, IR temp measuring capabilities, all in its original presentation case etc. By the time I had decided, it had been snapped up  :'(

Actually my script broke suddenly last night due to an HTML change on ebay (yes I am scraping it because I'll be fucked if I'm paying for the API). Found this one myself  :-DD

It's a crappy scope but return is good. Especially as they took a low offer on it.

Can't spend any time making a decision TBH. You have to be on it super fast.

TBH I'm somewhat happy with one BM867. The keysight has been rolled out once to measure temperature and once to measure current while I was measuring voltage with the BM867 so far. I might lose the Keysight. If I didn't have any other meters, which I do then I'd probably go for a lower end Brymen as well just for ancillary tasks.

Wow, thats a statement right there about how good that 867 is, the Keysight was much more expensive than the 867.

Mind you, on Amazon the 867 is £211 and I've seen it even higher than that.

Nope. Tek TDS210. Oooold 60MHz DSO. Needs new BNC and CCFL. I have the latter already from when I bought a three pack when I did the screen on my Korg Triton and the BNC is only £4. They get dicky on these units. I remember fixing one back when they came out because Tek wanted £500 at the time to even look at it because it was an out of warranty repair.

However they are still very much in demand. I have sold it already outside of ebay for more than twice what I just paid :-DD ... there is a market for people who don't trust chinese stuff (I don't really if I'm honest), don't want to pay for a Rigol and/or do want the Tek interface.

Makes me wonder if it originated externally or something blew up internally, either way it ain't pretty.

It's possible it was internal. It wasn't shown working and some of those had a safety recall due to the earth on the board burning up if you got line voltage on the BNC shells.

To note mine is showing as self test passed.

The seller claimed it was working OK, always suspicious if they don't photograph it working when they claim it does.

Not my design. JLCPCB did the fab though. This is a nifty little superhet 2W CW transceiver for 40m band (7Mhz). I’ve got a finished unit here too. Very nice radio.

Edit: completed transceiver:

Edit 2: made first contact with it like this :D

Does this forum havce a disproportionate amount of Windows haters or are they simply noisier?

Given the market share, it's probably just normal.

I can take issue with every operating system I use or have used. So, no need for love or hate. Just pick your poison, then grin and bear it. :-DD

HP 54645D stuffs...

...snip...

Measurin' shit:

Single capture MegaZoom example. Pretty good! Much better than the 2k in the earlier 54600's and a lot of Tektronix scopes even up until recent times  |O

That's quite nice indeed. I rescued a 54601A with a display board problem the other day. Should be an easy fix. I like the sharpness of the CRT and four channels. Too bad these older ones had so little memory.

Quote
Money well spent. Now to find some probes!

Yeah, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of those MegaZoom ones to play with.

Let me know if you need any board parts. I've still got the guts of a 54602 floating around.

I'm quite happy with WIN10 once I got past one big initial issue. It absolutely refused to join my home network consisting of 2 other computers running WIN7. It took considerable hours to figure out what wasn't configured properly in the services.msc to get it to join the homegroup.
Yeah that's a real PITA and we've had that ongoing problem with 7, 8.1 and 10.
Services.msc you say ?
Any other tips ?
