Same here, nothing surprises me anymore. But I saw it and I should at least report it.

Those Thai women are damn beautiful. Problem is many of them aren't women.  :-DD

I had just enough poly for the 3rd coat. I'm fresh out. You're on your own.  :-DD

"...spitzen-spartin'-fillibartin' frickin'-frackin' dirty ratzenfratzin butt-ugly son of a 3-toed copper-bottom fool..."

"Ham-fisted Shrek hands" strikes again... a slip of the grip just turned a $120 iPad Air 2 into A $220 one.  :palm:

Looks like I fixed the charging issue; believe it or not, it appears there was a screw missing from the battery connector from the factory on this one. But even taking as much care as I could muster, I still managed to slip and nick a corner of the LCD with my guitar pick while disassembling. Now the display has "terminal plaid".  ::)  Got a new one on the way; hopefully here before Christmas, as I bought from a vendor in Tejas. So now I just have to wait.  |O

mnem

Looking like we have a second "penis fingers" in the group now  ;D

Oh, I know we have more than that, but they aren't prepared to admit it.

Oops :(

I may be a assh'o; but I'm a honest assh'o.  :-DD  I figured if I can help one other user not screw in an upward direction, it was worth a little embarrassment.

And the moral of today's story is:

Be EXTRA careful disassembling your 4th, 5th, & 6th generation iPads. To make them thinner and less bezel, the LCD is just a few mm away from the edge and completely unprotected. All these yoyos posting videos of how to take the thing apart COULD warn you about this, but they DON'T. *~Ka-Ching!!!~*

On a related note: that $12 set of opening tools from SLAmazon worked a treat; the phone opening pliers are simply MAGICAL. Absolute control of the initial lid-prying part of the process; no effing around holding one side down with an elbow, etc. Give just enough of a squeeze to get your first pick in, then start working your way around the circumference.   :-+ And the rest of the hand tools are also surprisingly adequate.  The handles on the drivers are cheap overmolded crap, but the tips themselves are definitely above average for the cheap shit.  :-+ :-+ :-+

3 penis fingers has to be better than 5 !  :phew:   Oh, how we learn from our stuff ups....especially when they cost !

And you can't fuse that display together with a short puff of dwagons breath ?  :P

Tried that... it went from "Ghosts Having a Snowball Fight With a Yeti" to "Nuthin' But Whut th' Gewd Laird Gevv' Meh Tartan". While in theory an improvement, still not sufficient resolution for the task at hand.  :-DD

I have been paranoid playing with a circular saw and no proper table to fix timber bits to over the last few days. So far all fingers, toes and other appendages are still attached  :phew:

Next time your S.O. complains about the space your test gear takes up start building a cave for your 300x300 3D printer (the box needed is about 800x600x700)  :-DD

LOL!!!  :-DD   And when she gives you the boot due to the stink of whatever semi-radioactive polymer you're printing with this week, you can always move in...   :palm:

This seems to happen around Christmas. All the idiots come out and shitpost porn on here.

Then again Wikipedia page for Thanksgiving had an unexpected sausage display a while back  :palm:

I have been on the Internet too long to even raise an eyebrow now. I've seen things that'd surprise a Vietnam vet now living in a dodgy bit of Thailand.

Ahhhhh.... mnemories....  :-DD

Same here, nothing surprises me anymore. But I saw it and I should at least report it.

Mmmmhmmm.... and some of 'em are both.  :scared:

If it is worth doing, it is worth 6 coats. :)    Here is a table I built 10 years ago to build my  RC planes on.  It still looks like new with all that poly on it.   Pics start halfway down the page

As you can see, the extra coats with light sand between coats pays off.

I need to get me some of those phone opening bastards. I did a battery in an iPhone 5 the other day and all I had was the sucker with the keyring on it. Ended up using a stanley knife blade. Worked much better and I didn't nearly punch myself in the face every time the sucker came off  :-DD

Can't moan though. The battery and tool kit was only £4.95 (!) and worked perfectly. I didn't use the pentalobe screwdrivers that came with it as I've got some Wera ones.

My middle one has a first gen iPad Air that needs a battery soon. That's going to be fun. Not. Has had 5 years of use though without a hiccup. Can't moan.

just snagged an hp5255a for 45 bucks free shipping.   (the guy still has one left)

it will look good in one of my dozen or so 5245/48 chassis.

anyone ever use one of these puppies as a down converter?  (seems like the chassis would inject lots of counter related switching noise into it.....maybe not....there is lots of metal around it)

Yep, I went through all that years ago when I built my original bench. But at the time I had a shop to be able spend that effort. Not this time. I had to sand and prep the bench top outside in near freezing weather. Not fun. And then stain/poly inside in the living room. So it was one coat of stain, no additional sanding, and slap on 3 coats of poly and call it good.

I think it gas has something to do the consumption of copius amount of alcohol at Christmas parties and possibly mixed with increase in the use of recreational drugs at this time of the year [emoji56]

Yeah could be right there. Liquid lunch today and this afternoon while waiting for a particularly long compiler run I made these out of cable ties and old children's toys. QED.

As you have indeed abely demonstrated today, what your going to do for an oncore I dread to think, hopefully not what those louts did to the rough sleepers in the shop doorway [emoji107]

I doubt we will get a people's vote though, and thats bad news. One thing that has not been even been mentioned that I can see at least, is that once we leave, all of our sat navs will cease to work as the links into the Galileo satellite system will more than likely be switched off once we actually exit from EU. We have already spent £1.2bn on our share of the system only to be shut out on the exit day  :palm:

I don't think that'll be an issue. After all, the rest of the world can feely use GPS too. Only in times of war there's a chance of being shut out. The UK isn't leaving NATO, so it's rather unlikely that the EU would be hostile in a time of conflict.

Just a point on GPS. Selective availability can’t be turned on again now because some numpty leaked the seed key. GPS III doesn’t even have SA. Everyone is just launching their own network of space trash now.

I do so hope you are correct but there are many navigational satellites and system, USA has one of their own, but would we be able to access it?

There is a lot of concern over this issue as the following demonstrate. This I also think might not be the only major problem that will hit us like a sledgehammer in the face come that day as we have been looking for ways to save money for decades and there are many other services that we have entered into combined services with the EU and run our own bodies into extinction that will cost dearly to build up again, not least will be the ports service, customs and border control etc, we could well be heading into some choppy waters indeed, only time will tell.
