..continuing with photos of HP 53132A:

The standard XO:

It's just there for making the counter work, obviously! Completely useless in a precision instrument like this!
It's there for customers who will use their own reference put into "reference in" only and don't need (and want to pay for) a local XO at all.
I'm fine with that basically because I've got my own 10MHz reference to syntonize my timenuttery-related Test Gear.   :)

The second bumper on the bottom plate of the power supply module is also disintegrating, I'll replace that as well. It's looking good on the photo but I rubbed material off of it by just slightly touching it!

After putting it back all together here's the back plate:

Obviously the unit has no mark for Option 124 on it:

I'm happy that it has it.   :blah:

That's it for the moment. No comes some playing around with different software compatible to the 53132A to see what it's capable of and useful for.   ;)

For a little surprise (because not mentioned in the description or on the photos of the ebay-ad) it's equipped with the 200MHz-12,4GHz input channel C (Option 124)!   :)

Really lucky with the channel C. Pretty useful to have from 0 to 12G in a compact device like that.

As announced, here are the photos of my newly arrived HP 53132A:
Checked with my naked but working Trimble 57963-D it's spot on showing a nice 12 digit resolution:

To be continued..

That is a nice unit and in spec too!  :-+ :-+

When Shipping with USPS, Is It Okay to Reuse Boxes with Amazon/Target Tape, and leave that tape on?

Kind of a dumb question, but I wasn't sure. Do I have to remove the tape completely off of these boxes and reseal them with clear tape only if I'm shipping with USPS. Or is it fine to leave the tape, and just use clear to reseal the top of the box? Thanks

When it comes to reusing a shipping box the only thing I do is make sure all traces of the previous shipping label is removed. Never had a problem.

I've had good luck with Artek overall. Having the damn thing be searchable is a damn sight better than the sometimes awful scans Keysight provides for old HP equipment.

Can confirm that. All manuals I bought from Artek were composed/scanned well and very helpful (often including change notes Keysight doesn't provide!).

My experience with Artek has been the same.

I find it quite amusing that after you post so many pictures of the disassembled unit the last one shows the text on the back that says "NO OPERATOR SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO SERVICE TRAINED PERSONNEL."   :-DD

The standard oscillator comes nowhere near being spot on. If I had the luck to catch this very moment when it accidentally brings the counter to show 10MHz I should be winning the lottery...    >:D    :-DD

Sorry, didn't want that: I think I didn't express my irony enough; look at the photo, there's the text "ExtRef" lit.
I checked the reference against itself. Only if the counter had a failure it wouldn't be spot on.
Changed that.

I didn't enlarge the picture so I didn't notice "ext ref" being on. Oh well, nice score anyway.  ;D

Yeah, I know... me either. I was just looking to reuse one of the new Amazon bubble mailers with Bezos' dick printed all over it, and didn't know if there was anything different about all that logo abuse. Then I stumbled across that random bit of weirdness...  :o

The old label peeled off really easily; left the adhesive behind. I slapped a new label on it, taped it shut and now it's in the mailbox full of neoBrackets.  :-+

Now I have this overwhelming desire to mail a naked coconut...  :-DD

Nice one, especially with a 12GHz channel C. Usually, they just have a 3GHz one, if at all.

Added to the POI.

Inverted18650's house is going to look like this for a bit  :-DD

(from Resident Evil)

I am going to take you all up on the offers!

I am officially extending an invite to three-four-five people to come play with everything and help me find out what is working, whats not, and help with valuation. I just do not think I can do it all myself. Time and date TBD, but in the very near future. I hope it will be a fun meet-n-greet. Almost all the gear is HP, Fluke and Tek. Specifically looking for a person(s) (guy or gal) who can help with the spectrum analyzers and signal generators, HAM radios, and any volt-nuts into DC standards. I will provide the food and beverages and we can all hang out and play with this 'once in a lifetime lot.' Though my wife's cooking is good, since she is allowing me leave the stuff strewn all over the place, quite literally, we will eat out for two meals, on me. Please see the warning below.

Warning: I 'space out' from time to time and the medication I take helps but doesn't cure it (my brain has been irreparably bruised). I grew up a 'shit-kicking surfer' and had a laid back vibe, until the military; now I don't sleep well and suffer severe depression. I am a nice guy in general, but I cannot stand "know it all, do it my way now, closed minded people" and I will quickly put you in your place; I have dealt with enough of that for many lifetimes. If you like to talk down to people, please stay away. I tell you this now so you are aware and know what I expect. Be respectful of everyone and it'll be a blasty-blast. If there are items you want to buy, please talk to me in advance, and we can make it happen. edit* and I have a dog and cat. Husky breed, sheds a lot.

I forgot to respond to this. Your offer is most generous and sounds like fun. But it's the distance involved that's kinda putting me off. NY to TN is at absolute minimum an entire day's drive. I've been "cured" of long distance driving since my cross country 1850 mile Colorado to New York jaunt alone 2 years ago. It took me nearly 2.5 days to complete. I swore to myself never again. And if I do decide to take you up on your offer it certainly won't be in the Winter. Maybe in the Spring. We'll see.

I can't stand people who think they are "know-it-alls" and talk down to others. I have no problem telling them to go intercourse themselves. So I'm sure we'll get along just fine.  :-+

Oh, and I like cats and dogs.  ;D

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I too am tempted but the drive and the fact i have to work for a living are whats stopping me. Real shame too because it could be fun and would save a bundle on shipping.

I too like cats and dogs, i have 9 (i think?) cats and 2 dogs. Every single one of them, owner included, can't stand the holier than thou know it alls.

Yup. Sed he was embarking on a new employment that would keep him away for a while. Still... this is where I know to look for him.  :scared:

You know the old joke...

"Can you help me find my keys? I dropped them by the mailbox."

"By the mailbox? Why are you looking for them all the way over here?"

"Because this is where the light is."

I want to take a shower, but I can't. I could, but I know I'll find a "didn't find you home" slip as soon as I exit the bathroom. Of course, waiting it out means not seeing anyone all day. That's how it works.
