Sheesh, Mrs GreyWoolfe looks askance at me for 3 monitors on my company laptop. :-DD  The look on her face when I told her I was considering a 4th was priceless.

I have a 7th i just haven't bought the requisite adapter yet. I like my screen space.  >:D

My solution was more of a surrender than a solution... I put my PC in the corner of the living room, and extended my desktop onto the biggest screen in the house.  :-DD

I used to do this, now I broke, and do..well this. Not my choice either.

Hey! That's MY gig!

I HALO drop into somebody else's shitstorm, shovel shit as fast as I can by the billable hour, then try to make it to my extraction point before somebody asks me to look at the furking coffemaker... which is of course connected to the network, so technically still within my theater of operation.  :palm:

mnem
Go ahead... ask me if the coffemaker is a "theoretical" situation...  :o

You're sure you REALLY want to know? In order,
1 2 3
4 5 6
* 7 *

1 Datasheet, document or task manager, 2 Videos in general, 3 Clock, 4 Same as 3 and i can drag a pdf across both to increase height, 5 literally everything this is the main screen, 6 a page i want to watch and if i had a 7th it'd be another one for literally anything.
Of course all the above are examples, another example is if i'm working with audio i need 4 screens just to keep from flipping back and forth. Two for files, both open makes transfers back and forth easier; one for audio processor; one for player to check while i'm working and i still have two if i want to look something up.

By the way, it's the pixel density i'm obsessed with. 4K would be useful but so would 8k and i can't swap everything out for either unless i win the lottery.  A 50" screen is WAY too big to fit into my rig even if i wanted to, i find multiple smaller screens better than one huge one for various reasons.

P.S.
Of course their all my screens so examples are useless as that's just their job description, i use all of them for literally anything as i see fit.  >:D

P.P.S
All this talk over my monitors none of the wire shelving, wow.  :o

Seen it, considered it, found myself too miserly. My main screen i bought new, the big one i got half price the rest were hamfest finds. Money is no small factor in this set up, if i had money like henry ford I'd have some truly bat-shit stuff.

yeah, well... with TEA, wire shelving is kindof a given. I have it in 3 rooms of the house, as well as literally wall-to-wall in the garage.  :o

Well i did mean the concept of using the side of one as a front and then putting it ON my table, then the subsequent organization of my gear on it. Also the further documentation of the evolution of my table/lab i found interesting. Oh well, all things considered i suppose the monitors ARE more interesting in the grander scheme of things.

Well I used to have 2 monitors setup, but space does not permit it now and quite honestly I don't miss the extra screen as Windoze 10 has this neat party trick that you can set up called Task View and you flip instantly between screens by using Ctrl & Tab it switches between internet tabs and Alt & Tab you can switch between any PDFs, photos or any other files that you have saved  so in effect you have many screens without the space taken up by monitors, its rather clever really, I like it.

Anyone wondering if these T12 soldering stations are any good or not, well this video by The Defpom might help you make up your mind. At least they have fuses in the primary mains and the secondary as well, err Hello Weller, beating you in this aspect alone  :-DD

Yeah, the KSGER line is what I eventually settled on as being the best-developed after my less-than-stellar overall experience with the smaller Banggood T12 controller I started out with. Of course, Bang-em-good still sells that utterly craptacular controller right next to the KSGER.  :palm:

This video shows that they're definitely continuing to develop their hardware; that SMPS module appears quite a bit better manufactured, and I see the T12 controller has a RTC battery integrated. It appears they're also continuing to develop their  the firmware; my controller has modes for Desoldering Iron w/pump control as well as Hot Air Rework station, but watching him scroll through the menus, they've definitely polished the English UI quite a bit as well.  :-+

Of course, his video has his affiliate link in it; so he gets points he can use to buy more crap on Bang-em-good, or turn into cash if he sells enough. I usually post the long link so folks can see that it's an affiliate link:

Oh noice... the Base Kit is on sale right now, only $43:-+

Here's their dead-sexy 2-in-1 station, but a LOT more ($199 :scared:) :

https://www.banggood.com/T12-Soldering-Handle-Kits-STM32-OLED-Electric-Tools-Soldering-Station-Aluminum-Alloy-Welding-Tips-p-1362089.html?p=GI031609948520121218&custlinkid=127542

Here's the base model alloy handle for only $18, but you have to assemble it yourself:

https://www.banggood.com/NEW-Type-STM32-OLED-T12-Soldering-Handle-Digital-Temperature-Controller-Soldering-Irons-Handle-p-1305824.html

And here's the "upgrade" model alloy handle for only $24, but you still have to assemble it yourself:

Looks like the main difference is the smaller diameter silicone grip; interesting that Defpom doesn't seem to realize he already had the "better" of the two.  :o

I think I've proselytized the virtues of these stations and user-supported in this channel enough I've earned the right to post these affiliate links... if you don't like it, please just scroll on by. ;)

Hmmm...

I was actually about to drop the hammer on that alloy iron handle... then I looked at the pics and realized it is 25-30mm shorter than the stock 9051 handle. Worse yet, they take that length out of the business end of the handle; moving the tip of the iron 25-30mm farther away from the grip.

I'm not sure whether I like that or hate it. The cheap modded 907/936 handles place the tip about 50mm further from the grip than a stock 9051 handle; I definitely do NOT like that; but there are some occasions where it is useful to have the extra reach available as a second handle.

I find that the dead-sexy 2-in-1 station very confusing, does it come with a iron handle or not?, tip? and what about the desoldering tool? All I can see is the station and the hot air gun with 4 nozzles. The station has a button marked vacuum but where the feck is the suction pump??

I really enjoy using my T12 even if its not made by KSGER but by Quicko and has only 4 pins as opposed to the 5 on the KSGER, it has stepped up to the plate on every occasion, even when called upon to solder onto some large ground planes which really wick the heat away, it makes a first class joint every time. I only have the 9501 handle (blue) as the one that DefPom has, so which handle are you referring to when you say that does he know he already has the best handle?? I find that the 9501 handle is perfectly deigned to provide the right grip and balance to give good control over the tip. What I have had a few problems with however are some of their tips, the contact rings cab cause problems as they tend to come undone after a few insertions (makes note to order some more) which makes then unusable then and thrown away  :palm: Perhaps the genuine Hakko ones are better, but in can you get the genuine ones from that don't cost an and a leg?

Me, too.  the Ctrl & Tab doesn't really work comfortably for me.  I have 4 different windows that I copy/paste information to and from.  The 3 monitor setup is far easier for me than shortcut keys.  I'm with neo, sometimes hardware is the better solution.  No need for elegance, function is paramount.  Now, if only my company would give me a laptop and dock that would support 4K and a nice 60" 4K monitor that I could divide into 4 screens.......................

One small screen. Two decent eyes.

Little dilemma here. MFJ-259 arrived. Bit dirty and bashed up as expected as these are used in the field but there’s sign the batteries have leaked before. It was cleaned out properly but there’s traces of corrosion on the battery box and the board has been washed clearly.

Sooo... quit whining and just use it as it works fine. Or talk to seller?

Defpom shows two alloy handles at about 2:00; one with a blue foam grip they sent with the review station, and another alloy handle that he has connected to another station. It is the other one with the silicone grip that KSGER and Banggood refer to as the "new" handle; though it looks to me from the listings like both are the same alloy extrusion with foam or silicone grip.

[EDIT] You can see clearly what I'm talking about re: the really long offset of the tip compared to grip as well. Ehhhhhh... [/EDIT]

He was excited about the foam grip; but speaking as someone who has done production soldering, I'll say with conviction that foam grips blow vs silicone. Especially when they get a few months old and full of oils from your fingertips; they can get downright nasty and even smell.

Looks to me like that's not a button, but rather a threaded hole for a bulkhead vacuum connector. I'd say so you can install a vacuum pump inside if you want to use a desoldering handle.

If it works and the corrosion didn't do any real damage I'd say quit whining or else we'll have to buy you some cheese for your private wine and cheese party.  >:D :-DD

Send it back and get a N1201SA:  >:D  https://www.amazon.com/N1201SA-Vector-Impedance-Antenna-Analyzer/dp/B06VVVCKN8/

But hey; I have swiss cheese, cheddar cheese (mild and extra sharp), 'merican cheese, string cheese, parmesan/romano... sorry, fresh out of shredded but do have shredded mozzarella, and probably a few Bonabels in the back of the fridge. I think for a expatriated Yankee that's a pretty good selection.  :-DD

There... that's more like it. Slim handle, silicone grip, correct proportions. Only $43 at Amazon or $35 from AliEx. Might as well get it from AliEx; both come with "slow boat from China" shipping unless you pay $30-40 priority shipping.   :palm:

Not the first time I've had a fluke handle get broken in shipment. But super glue doesn't work on the type of plastic Fluke uses. Has to be epoxy.
How much 'flesh' do you have there? How about the 'hot embedded wire' technique?
