Welp.... how did this happen?  :scared:

I don't know either, not sure why did you chose that star wars T-shirt instead of this one:

Can you tell us your ROE [Return on equity] for all those toys?
My Lab ROE is well below the 0 and it will stay there for the rest of my life I suspect, it is the only negative business case that make me happy somehow.

Yes regularly. I'm actually a paid up Wolfram Mathematica desktop user as well.

Replying mostly to self here.

So I spent some time inside the 475 last night and found that my assertion that the transformer was toast was actually wrong. The mutliplier is however arcing so that's had it. After comparing the service manuals for the 465 and 475 it turns out they have the same multiplier! The 465 is BER as the vertical is totally shot. So I shall be substituting in the multiplier from the 465 at lunch time and this evening (it will take a couple of hours to extract the damn thing). Also should be able to steal enough parts off the 465 it to fix all the missing 475 bits.

I always assumed you use your equipment for business, but now I'm not sure anymore. Don't tell me it's just a hobby?

That looks like a lot of money invested in there.

You can find hundeds of reviews of some 50$ alibaba DMM or even some reviews of 250$ Brymen DMMs, but seeing what's inside if 70k$ 7.5-digit calibrator - close to non-existing.
So I'm trying to correct that unfair situation myself.

That's a bit of good news, so that's 2 of us reading your progress then. It is getting insanely quiet here at times and then you turn away for a while and wham 2 pages of it [emoji4]. I'm currently sitting in the car at Little Warley while SWMBO and Son have gone for a lovely walk, only another hour to wait.

Lovely 'stash' Ilya,
Not only quantity but quality as well - also much of it restored by your own hands - no 'rusty 3458a' any more!
My ltz references are now about 12 in number - and have been going for 18months or so, I am going to get my 3458 calibrated again in October (at the 1yr mark) so I can look at its drift and look at the drifts of the ltz10000s.
Rob
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

Tek 465 eviscerated. You have to take everything out including the damn CRT to get at the multiplier.

Victory:

I'm not reassembling the 465 now other than putting the CRT back in (where its safe) and putting the outer case on. It stays parts mule and will be harvested for project parts as it's got oodles of nice components on it.

This evening I will attempt to do the reverse on the 475!   :scared: ... if it doesn't work after that I've got two parts mules so will break up for ebay sales.

Is it weird that I just want to take that delay line and hang it on the wall as art?  :-DD

Welp.... how did this happen? :scared:

TEA clearly works even if you stop by only occasionally. Your lab has certainly grown, TiN. :-+

Can it be? It appears all the equipment is right side up this time. ;D

That depends... do you meant specifically; in this instance... or more existentially?  :-DD

Myself, I blame the 'droids... that middle one especially; he's a trouble-maker.  >:D

No they're upside-down, same as before. It's just that now we're all upside-down too...  ;)

swmbo saw a piece of TE come out of the basement and depart in a mailing box.

SHE IS NOW TAKING ME OUT FOR ICE CREAM!

now that is what we call a win win result.

 :-+

I always announce those rare occasions when a piece of TE departs the premises. It has yet to result in ice cream! :-DD

The best I ever got was dinner at Longhorn's when I shifted a closet-full of model airplanes & bits on CL...   :palm: I played along, lest she ever even GUESS what that closet-full actually cost me. :'(

Ok, time to put an end to the waiting, seeing as I failed to win neither of the items that I had my beady eye, mind you I only put a low ball offer on them as I didn't really want them, they could be seen a backward step from my current collection but, none the less I thought that they were, well sort of interesting and appealing but had some flaws in their design.

Surprisingly only one person guessed correctly and that was done via PM so as not to spoil it for anyone else playing along, and that was really because we both have a common interest in these things

Thurlby Thandar the Barbarian cometh for thee! Be afraid! Be VERY AFRAID!!! :-DD

If you don't already know "why that shirt", then I can't explain it. ;)

I actually used to wear this one as a "uniform shirt"; had it in several colors.   :P

My 465 parts mule has already been harvested for the CRT and the Vertical board is removed so if I ever need the HV multipler it should be an easy task. But of course the receiver scope will have to be ripped down to install it.

Be careful reconnecting the wires to the deflection plates. The wires are easily snapped off the circuit board (Yep, it happen) plus if I recall the horizontal plate wires are a real PITA to get back on. (Or was it the Vertical? Don't recall but it took delicate work)
