This, my friends, is a thing of beauty!  Say hello to my "new" HP 1660A 136 channel Logic Analyzer!

I actually thought I goofed up on this order, because I forgot to ask if it came with cables or not. Since the listing didn't say, I later came to fear that it probably did not include cables. As it turns out...

Now, time to break out the manual and learn how to, actually, uh, you know, use the blinkin' thing.

I have an HP1682, and the fundamental concepts are little changed from the HP LA I used in 1980. The main differences (apart from clock speed and memory depth) are Windows (ugh) and the precise state machine trigger/filter primitives - and those are dictated by what can be loaded into the FPGAs.

Don't forget you need more than cables; for most purposes you also need the clips, which cost ~$1 each. You can also use Tek clips, and for some purposes I prefer those.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

New lab space is coming together...I'll get some pics up this weekend once I've organized and fixed cable management.  :palm:

Any recommendations on RF connector adapters? I keep hearing "avoid the cheap ones from you know where." I've also heard that the universal adapter kits aren't a good idea (plus they're pricey). I'm not doing mad RF science, so I don't need expensive precision adapters. However, I also don't want to damage gear by using badly machined ones.

To test the power meter that's enroute, I'm looking for either
  • N adapter (female-to-female)
  • N female to SMA male adapter
Any recommended sources are much appreciated. If you have extras, I'm happy to convert them into cash for you.
Without blame:
Huber&Suhner, Rosenberger, Radiall, Spinner, Kings, Amphenol RF, Pasternack, Automatic Connector, Southwest Microwave, Delta Electronics Mfg., Trumpeter.

Former Brands/Makers: Sealectro,  Omni Spectra

Telegärtner, TE interconnect, Pomona, JyeBao only for uncritical applications

No idea how good Coaxicom, Anoison, Genex.it, Coaxsol (short for Coaxial Solutions), are.

I really shouldn't have bought another multimeter.  :scared:
I tried to weasel out of it by stating that it is also an oscilloscope (sort of).
But: delete multimeter, insert oscilloscope, repeat.

I got a TekMeter THM560 underway. I'll check it out, so that I know if I will want to get the 565.

I want one of them now.

Away from TE until tomorrow evening. Currently lurking in a shit hotel. Air tattoo tomorrow. Pissing it down all day though so will be shite. Will post any photos if I get any.  Saw red arrows practicing on the way.
I'm going Sunday, it's supposed to be the day weather wise. I'm only going because one of the planes from North Weald is on static display (black L39) and the pilot has offered a pair discounted tickets to us.

May the TEA gods bless you with a good find like I was just blessed.  ;D

I fixed the broken case on the Fluke 1912A and it's a little rough but OK. Even the bail handle adjusts with no issues and locks properly in place.  :-+

Thought you'd have taken your DSLR out for an airing, they are pretty shower proof. If rains too heavy I just pop mine back in the camera bag and not had any trouble with it.

And the reason why your colleague is going there with you is, that you are the stand then for this huge lens?  ;)  ;D
