Yep we have the same buggers.
LMAO but the last one can be be sort of useful if the it's the variety without wings [emoji1787][emoji1787]
Not if it's a redhead.  :scared: :scared: :-DD

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Inconvenient females are the only kind worth the effort.

Case in point: I showed that picture to my wife, saying "This is SO wrong, but so funny..." and she laughed. Like I knew she would.  >:D

The target market was university electronics labs. I don't think they sold a lot of it.

Do you know what they used as reference? Perhaps a 1N829A or something?

I don't have schematics (there don't appear to be any for this product line) and I only kept it open long enough to have a quick look. The parts are house-numbered. If I have a chance later today, I will open it up, get the part numbers and see if it is in my Heathkit cross reference.

That was probably on the expensive side for Heathkit. I can see the "cost control department" going "pfft just whack a zener in an a normal diode in series and say it is factory calibrated"  :-DD

There goes bd, whacking his zener again...  :-DD

Note the only usable scope on the bench is a Rigol because it’s the only one that isn’t broken. That’s the Tek Life  :-DD

But not that far from reality. Of my 8 Tek scopes 2 are currently down for repairs.

Yeah same situation when I had a lot of them. Current scope status is:

1. Philips PM3217 - working fine. Needs some cosmetic donor parts now.
2. HP 1740A - duff power supply. Waiting parts.
3. Hameg HM203 - working fine.
4. Rigol DS1054Z - working fine.

Miracle!

I have two Tek scopes, a 2465B and a THS720A, both in working condition.

I don't know what you guys are doing with your scopes.  :-DD

You're not far off though, out of all of those Tek scopes, only 4 of them are fully functional right now. The rest of them are in between the state of needing adjustment and being gutted for parts.

Gee, I thought I had a few Tek scopes.  :-DD

Can I interest you in a 2230 with slight brain damage...?  Cost of postage only... seriously. I'm moving.  It's worth that just for the infinite menu-scrolling pot. I'll even split postage; I just hate to send it to the Goodwill.

EDIT: I tried to find the pic of the POST error message but couldn't. It passes all tests except the last: "High-speed acquisition". You can punch through that page and the scope works normally; I haven't deliberately tried to push it to the limits though. My gut reaction is noise on one or more power rails; it has a squeal in the PSU which I haven't been able to isolate the cause.

Oops...I forgot all about the 7603 under the bench. It works. So 7 functional Tek scopes and 2 down for a total of 9. And if I include non-Tek scopes that's a total of 12 with 2 down.

Did not include the 3 parts mules in the TEA closet.  :-DD

Well, if it wasn't for the position of the power connector, it could argued that it could be a Tek scope on the bench, very similar to the TDS series of scopes. :-DD
