Dual beam does have one huge use case: looking at two signals of widely different frequency. Unless you do this a lot, it's probably not needed other from the cool factor.

(Even better! Already in found state it revealed itself, but your cleaning methods are truly something extra. My 427 was sold "as new", and with exception for the missing ring on one binding post, it is.)

the most amazing cleanings you can do in differential- and tera-ohm-meters,
they will display in the results if they are clean enough or not.

yes, a windows cleaner.
That is perfect for Oldies, and when it`s dry there is no rest what can build a M Ohms R
I have tested that long time, it works. Also for washing the solding stripes and components in the glowing Tekscopes.
For the cases, it is to use with a plastic brush, after drying is to polish dry with a textil

the ceramik isolated jacks from a diff are to clean with pure IPA, 3 times.

Do not buy a 7844 with the P11 (eyehurt blue) CRT.
correct. Bring it directly to me.  :)

this is my 7844, opt 21 (dedicated slots) + opt.78 (P11, blue beams)

(Attachment Link)

The only what is not so amazing is the readout system:
Some segments are "thin" displayed, by example:
a 8 looks like H. Also 6 and 9 the vertical bow is thin.
This may be better with a phosphor what have a longer delay then P11.
The little problem is not to see with simply vertical plugins bec. they use almost 1,5,0 , no 6,8,9
but counters, DMM read out results , so they do that.
P11 looks best with a sunglas filter (smoke grey, not blue), you see that here. The blue P11 was made for using the large Polaroid cameras, the films was very sensitive for the color.
A lot of digital cameras are also very sensitive for that, so the intensity must be low to get fine pictures.

See, I also need one because it has the classic Tektronix logo. Though none of their recent branding is as fugly as the latest one. See [1].

Based on the answers to my query I've upgraded my still-a-dream scope to a 7904 now with some plug-in improvements based on my query to the thread. I imagine it will cost twice as much as my original fantasy.  But it is okay because I tell myself, if i buy this setup, i will be able to fix the 7834 and the 785 if they break  >:D

Just acquired two Agilent 33120A function generators FOC. Both pass extended self test but seemingly give no output. To be investigated when I get a Round Tuit. One of them has the option 001 high-stability clock oscillator as well.
Well, the unit with the option 001 oscillator was marked "gives no output at all". Indeed it doesn't - however it does output sync pulses correctly. I thought to myself: "surely it can't just be anything so simple as a blown output fuse?"
But lo, it was!
 :) :) :)

The other one I have only powered up for a quick check, and gives a distorted negative side output at some attenuator settings, more so at high frequencies. It looks rather like the negative output driver has failed. There was a thread about that one in the repair board. The investigation will continue...

Sniff. Reminds me of an 7104 I had (with all the goodies, 2x7A29,7B10,7B15). A great scope, and a landmark for the time.
But:
- it consumed 150% of my desk space
- sounded like a landing 747
- had no digital.
So I had to trade it in for an MSO7104 scope, which I still like after 10 years. Tek took the 7104 back and gave me  hell of a good price for it !
Still I dream of the 360ps blue glare screen sometimes ...  :'(

Desk space? That's why it's on a cart.

Fan noise? The 7904 has no fan. You wanna hear fan noise? The 535A sounds like a jet in full afterburner taking off.  :-DD

No digital? Not an issue here.

In Other News... I am a sick, sick widdle dwagon.

Since mommy is busy doing all the teaching and dishes, I took one for the team and kept the sick widdle boi company so he doesn't feel like a pariah in his own home. And now I've got his flu all down in my chest, while he's getting better and now out shopping for a guitar with mommy. *koff-koff-glarrrggle-koff*

Bummer! I caught a rhinovirus a couple of weeks ago. Hope you feel better soon, mnem!
I TEA.

This is also a measurement device, right?

914680-0

It's a Kern GK1, with the "-C" option, horizontal degrees scale. Just won it on the local auction site, for a very sensible sum. I'm in for a new rabbit hole class, I'm afraid.

Are you having a Discord meeting today at 1900 hours UTC? I haven't seen any recent mention of this.  :-//

TEA Time is every Saturday at 2100 hours UTC per mnem's recommendation. So, everyone is welcome to casually meet up at that time. Not every session will be "formal" with an announcement, topic list, recording, etc.

I updated the schedule in the OP, pinned a post in the #general and #teatime channels of the Discord server, and updated the name of the TEA Time voice channel to indicate the time.
I TEA.

Instead of asking someone's age, we could ask instead: "What's your Tek generation?"

My Tek generation is

Yep! Getting old I guess... more blue than usual... but all my plug-ins still working... thank you very much.

Life was not that easy:
- No place for a cart in the little room then (I could sit outside, I know)
- I needed the speed (working on avalanche stuff, so no 7904)
- probing digital stuff with (always too few) analog channels sucks.
Anyway ... some nostalgia is OK

that is funny, I am just in my Seco 107b now making a list of caps for it
