Lucky sods. I'm stuck on my own until the end of the 23rd as everyone else buggered off on holiday  >:(

Serves you right for not booking them early enough

I'm back on the 4th like most. I did consider booking an extra week but we have an emergency rush job (only type we seem to get these days) starting on the 4th, building a vaccine station.
Booking extra holidays at this point would make me a cunt, and I'd rather leave that speciality to the managers.

Unfortunately I haven’t worked there long enough to accumulate any holiday yet. On a positive note I am being paid holiday for the last place on Monday  :-DD

Back on the 4th as well. Building a billing and quota system. Might be interesting. No management or infra just design and build  8)

Not home alone unfortunately. Just stuck on my own at work. Home alone never happens around here. It’s crawling with teenagers half the time  :-DD

Some microwave transformers, electrolytic caps, a mosfet, a 555er or a waveform generator, a mirror and a lens ?

Or am I missing something here ?

@tautech or give him some wasabi powder to snort. it's white if not wet.
That Ahole boss....me.....if I need to feel pain I'd rather it be self-inflicted like some hard recoiling gun and the only one I have an itch to shoot is a 50BMG. A buddys 7mmSTW Sako varminter was quite enough thank you.  :scared:
Still it shot like a laser and was good fun grubbing thistles with it from 450 yds away.  ;D

A big 1.9m Army chap visited and fitted a Burris Eliminator to his 300WM and used 20 to get it sighted in properly including several hits on my 700 yd gong and a couple days later was still hurting from it !  :-DD

Yeah, just do NOT aim at any aircraft.  Pilots are generally rather nice people.

Yep. There’s been at least 5 dead (run over, stabbed or shot), 5 major crashes and at least three cars in gardens in the last 5 years. A friend of ours over the road had someone roll a BMW across their fence about 9 months ago  :palm:.

Edit: forgot to add the stabbings.

Any thoughts on $500 CAD for a pair of supposedly working Tek 422 & 454a scopes?
The pictures showing a trace look more like noise than an actual signal.
My thought is this price is much too high, but would half that be too much Ferengi.
I also have to consider travel distance; they are closer to Dwagon-land than to here.
Also, SWMBO would certainly object to the space taken up by two of the same thing.

I could be just looking for anything to break the drought on TE up here; a nixxie frequency counter would be a better acquisition but I still have never seen one...

How about a HP 5326B 50MHz timer counter/DVM? might need some work, some feet as it was rack mounted & replacement knob, but the listing does have "make offer". Note these later ones should be upgradeable with an oven reference (10544).

David

Wow!  Good catch... for some reason I did not find that one.

My searching had recently turned up a HP5327B, but does not ship to the GWN.  Those in the US can have a go:

@mnem or @25_CPS, any interest in the Tek 422 & 454a scope combo?  It might be closer to you than to me; listed on Kijiji

At least it's only a few hundred yards to the nearest hospital. That stretch of road seems to be an accident magnet. When I lived north of you (Yiewsley/West Drayton) I was quite often in your neck of the woods visiting friends in Isleworth and Teddington (NPL/LGC). I had to skirt around RTIs on the A310 all the time.

Good point with the hospital even if I have spent perhaps too much time in there myself  :-DD

I wish I’d known that when I moved in. May have put the cash down and gone a bit further towards St Margaret’s / Twickenham.

My monthly switch on of my test gear released the 'smell of v......., no loss in the morning' the lovely smell of Rifa going to heaven. My gear is in stacks about 600mm high all on the same power board, the stack that started to smell was in the far corner (of course) and consisted of 2 boat anchors  HP 54120 and 5371. The 54120 - worked, and was the first out, showing 'Schaffner-ing' but it was old - dried. Pulled apart and new bits ordered - the IEC filter is a 10A version.
The 5371 didn't switch on - when it was released from the corner - who needs to go to the gym!, it had fresh Schaffner extract and had blown the fuse, so more parts ordered.
The inside of the 5371 is a joy to behold, engraved instructional EMI shield covers, retained by knurled bolts - self restrained into threads built into the subframe. Man did HP know how to make gear!

Ooh nasty. You were lucky there.

What scares me is the amount of stuff out there that is left with the filter powered 24/7/365. I religiously turn everything off in this place apart from the fridge and that scares me.

Is it possible that being on permanently means warm and not humid?
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Saskia, nooo! If you cause sale of electrolytic caps to be limited to 5000µF/person/month, most of the people around here will lose any resemblance of a friendly attitude!

That's just... wow. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. Everything aboot the layout and the PCBs on that thing just feels like golden age Sony; but the chassis and CRT fixtures still feel Textronix.

It's like some unholy demon child... I want one. :-DD

Yes, AFAIK there are some variations of it. An analogue storage one and one with a DMM function.

Urrrggghhh. I went to three Toys R Us... the last one a pilgrimage through a post-apocalyptic wasteland of a Mall downtown; where I had to park was literally absolutely the longest possible walk from the store... but I saved Christmas.

I've been looking for a particular Lego for the boi's wish list for 3 days... sold out online, aside from the scalpers who wanted almost $500 for it... ordered at my local T-R-U; got there, oh we're sorry... out of stock, canceled order. Went to the next closest one... same story. Evidently I got the last one in all of the GTA at the one in Dufferin Mall... and not ANY of the stores open so I could shop for alternate/additional toys due to Stage III lockdown again. |O

And after the Death March back out to my car... 42 minutes on the Ifni-accursed Don Mills Parkway before I could Escape from Downtown Toronto...

All y'alls can call me Snake Pliskin for the next couple days... I fucking earned it. :-DD

Yes and at this time of the year the chances of that happening are greatly increased, unfortunately.
