Depends how dumb the user is. How many times have you heard "have you tried rebooting it?"  :-DD

That is my favorite line.  Pisses the stepdaughter off to no end.  It's not my fault she shouldn't have a computer.  I've threatened to take it away for years and give her an abacus and rice paper.  Now her husband has to put up with her computer stupidity.  That gives me an idea for a Christmas present--a shirt that says PEBKAC practiced here.

Zazzle has my favorite version of this T-shirt; but their prices are so damned high on everything.

My wife actually bought me a PEBKAC T shirt years ago. Sadly discontinued this one: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/6692/

Sounds like a goal to me.

I've added a bunch of PoI to the first post. Thanks to those who've PM'ed candidates to me thus far.

I was looking for the closeup pic of a dot LED character that I think Pat posted, but haven't successfully found it yet. If anyone sees it, send me the URL. Thanks!

As a consultant I would like to suggest that we can merely google something quicker than our clients and hide that :)

Edit: Small argument with mrs bd139 this evening resulted in no more test gear purchases for a bit. She wanted to go on a spend up with my credit card because hers was full so I chopped the fucker up with some aviation shears.

Well, I've just used mine to purchase this addition to my arsenal of meters seeing as my Philips kicked the bucket in a spectacular fashion.

Heads up warning, looking like Maplins might be closing down soon if a rescue package can't be worked out for them, so if you have anything on ordered from them, check into it and see what options you have and the those that don't have anything outstanding, there may be some bargains to be had soon.

It would a sad day to see them go to the wall though, where else can you and get the emergency parts on a Sunday?

Haven't ordered anything for months. It's definitely "meh" territory. When I get dragged out shopping I don't even loiter in there any more.

Sunday emergency parts can wait until Tuesday, when RS deliver :D

Problem I have is that most of the parts are overpriced and crap quality, if they even have any in stock. Would you stick a Maplin capacitor in your nice HP pile of kit?

No I wouldn't but I have had to resort to buying the emergency computer bits and bobs etc from them before and also radio aerials etc.

So, according to the sticker on top, did you receive it in its carrying case? :-DD

I don't think its included, only just won it so now I have to wait for it to be delivered, which according to the latest weather forecast could be a long wait as the weather is worsening. :palm: :palm:

Keep forgetting about the shit weather. I’ve got a ton of stuff from China that’s going to take even longer.  Also ordered a book from Germany so that’s going to be screwed. This whole country falls over if a single snow flake drops. Last time it snowed they ran out of bog roll within 24 hours at the local supermarket.

Was just about to sit down and measure up my T12 for a new case so I can get that boost converter in it and my sodding new neighbour has started playing bloody music really loud. Going to blast something loud and nasty up the shared chimney in revenge. How dare he interrupt my TEA!
