Used to be a Sony Fan but not much recently. The Telly is a Sony about 5 years old. I have two camcorders, videowalkman (multi format 8mm), 5 laptops all over 15 years old. These are the original VAIO style (heavy) run various OS, newest being XP and are pretty much dedicated to specific legacy software / tasks. My first one bought about 2000 is still going strong. It saw out 3 more modern Sony laptops, I gave up on them at that point.
One VAIO is used at work to upload firmware to a particular model of aircraft primary flight display. The upload program needs to run in a DOS window under XP Pro with DOS4GW and a "real" RS232 port. Work IT policy does not allow unsupported OS's or users having full access
I'm the only person who has visited the OEM factory in the USA and been "trained" and authorised to do it. Other users have to send the instrument back to the factory. I think I imressed them when working on the initial testing of our version of the instrument.
I also have an early E-paper reader that I bought before they were sold in the UK. The salesman in the Sony store (Stanford mall CA) ased if I lived in the UK nd when I said yes he insisted it would not work in th UK and didn't want to sell it to me. I knew you just needed US credit card to register the account which was not a problem for me.
There is also a HDD / DVD recorder tucked away which is used for occasional dubbing of video to DVD.
Final item is used every day, a Dream Machine alarm clock / radio / CD.
