very good point ...
if the BIOS can handle it this seems to be a splendid alternative.

@psykok I cannot say how good those extenders are. However do not under any circumstances plug them into a USB port lest grievous harm will come upon thee and thy computer.

@bd139 I also vote for Asus boards, I have had mine a while now and no problems with it at all, I also have only had AMD CPU's of late. I used to have Intel's, but they were so expensive for the amount of bang you got that I switched to AMD's and have honestly never missed the Intel's and have never had any issues with AMD processors. Graphics, again, never had issues with Nvidia cards either.

You were right to defer him for the time being as getting any form of new gear is fraught with problems at the minute partly due to the global pandemic hitting both production and transportation of parts and of course for us Brits, Brexit has been added to the pot making it the perfect storm of a cess pit, and TBH, I don't see that getting any better this year personally.

I have been looking for a counter and I have been looking for my first item with nixxie tubes for quite some time.

What do you think is a fair price for a working HP 5326B with option 01 (system volt meter)?
Photo was provided with all tubes illuminated (but not a series of photos showing all digits for each tube).

Looks to be in good shape externally.
Seller is asking $130 CAD.
Seller is semi-local (about 2 hours drive one way).

Looks OK, seems to be lacking feet as usual, can they check the digits are all working with the count mode (set function switch to start) and use either check or a signal to run through all the digits?
Option 01 is the 8th digit factory installed, option 011 (10544A oven oscillator) would be good if it has it, early ones can't have them fitted.

Also available in the UK for a silly price, untested, no feet included.  :palm:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265027814928
That's more than both my 5326B & 5327B cost including shipping from outside the UK.

Heavy hints are being dropped about the pace of construction on fortress TEA:

I think I'd better get the Stanley knife out and either get those into the recycle bin while the cat's out tomorrow, or get sticking and painting. Oh yeah, there are two SWMBOs in the house, the original and the cat!
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

It reads the fault / error codes that HP gear from the 70s puts out when in test mode. Signature analyzers can be a bit of help fault tracing that gear.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

Got one too and works well. Mine needed just a tiny tweak of the single calibration pot. No feet here too. Solved that problem with 3/4 inch self stick felt feet.  :-+
