I grew up about an hour East of Melbourne and the there was Skiing on Tow a bit over an hour away or plenty of Cross Country. Most of that country sits above 1500-2000M so plenty of snow for 3-4 months a year. The only time I saw snow in Melbourne itself was 30 floors up in the Casino before the glass went in. Business clobber is not rated for that Brrrrrrr

Its doesn't work properly with alcaline cells after measuring currents in clamp mode. it simply shuts off or gets weird behavior. I've being using NIMH and no complains....  Also this meter if you deny the third beep of sleep mode it never goes off another feature.... And of course it doesn't have true rms...:

This was offered but in frequency mode it resets sometimes when measuring 230V AC mains or behind a back to back transformer...

In Amps mode / AC when measuring some 31mA if i put the leads in one polarity it measures 23mA and fliping 40mA. it is a true-rms multimeter.

Not much brightness, clamp sensitive to interference. Recent one to complement the ut204A

I was just going say....since when does the UK have a "real" winter?  When was the last time London got a 10 inch snow fall like I did last weekend? 

We have a "good winter" once a decade or so; see below.

More often it is much worse: it oscillates above/below freezing, so the freeze-thaw destroys infrastructure and creates sheet ice on roads/pavements.

Compared to you, hardly ever but our summers are now more comparable to yours but our electric bill doesn't double, because we don't have the luxury of A/C, we have to sweat it out

It snowed here in Chelmsford today, nothing has settled but the surrounding areas have settled snow, never known Chelmsford to be as quiet as it was this morning taking SWMBO to work it was as if aliens had abducted everyone and we and a handful of others were the only survivors, nobody it seems had braved the journey into town.

With a bit of snow here I could do the Finnish Sauna thing. As of 12.30 am and the Temp has just nudged back over 30 from 26 2 hours ago inside is humid and URK !

On a brighter note looks like I will have 1.3Gig counter and a set of HV Differential Probes to play with in a few hours if I get any sleep.

That makes two of us then, up in my lab, what used to be my office when I was working, it can get upto 38C in the summer all the fans do is to push hot air about, still better then nothing I suppose but its so humid and that makes the heat feel more uncomfortable as well.

No TEA for me today. It's domestic day. Laundry, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming (or hoovering as you Brits like to say). Get it all done in one day which leaves the rest of the week....for TEA.  (Except for tomorrow AM, grocery shopping).

Yep, we call it Hoovering in honour of the American company called Hoover who made the first (I may be wrong on this point) commercially available vacuum over here for sale in the shops and that name has stuck and hence why we call vacuuming, hoovering.

Postmans been and some USB A sockets that I was expecting he did not have, 30 mins later the doorbell rings and there stands a stranger to me asking if I live here, to which I said yes. He than hands me a small plastic bag that was delivered to him by accident 

Open it up and I ordered 2 packs of 10 and in pack I got 12 of one half of the cover and 8 of the other half, so now I can only make up 18 leads and not the 20 I wanted to make 

Order up another pack or file a complaint with the seller

That plug-in looks very clean. Is that after you restored it? I've read that those early analyzer plug-ins were extremely difficult to set up and use. Has that been your experience with them?

Already files a complaint, its not the cost of the parts £1.11 for 10, but the inconvenience that I don't enough parts to complete the project that was my concern.

I've had this guy on extended burn-in while I go about my chores and all is well. A welcome additional to the Fluke tribe.  I don't know what it is but I just love those ruby red LED's. It must have something to do with my prior fatal attraction to wacko red heads.

Perhaps it's the weather. But it has taken a rapid change. It is raining like hell and the temp is 9 C. The snow is quickly melting.

That HP is fucking infested with gremlins... has been for years. I've already nuked it from orbit; now starts the terraforming with my ASUS MB & 1055T.    Only thing I found in the garage was an old Rosewill HTPC case that's even worse than the one I'm moving out of.    We'll see how things look tomorrow when I'm done with the case hackery.

What about the cooling, air or water, personally I like water which is what I have had on my last 3 PCs so much quieter and cooler as well.

Gonna stick with the Silent Copper. I know for a fact the Phenom will run at 3.8 all day on it. 

Sexy looking finned CPU heatsink mnem.    Is it fanless ?Gunna repurpose it ?

Sell it to the copper merchants and get a CPU with lower TDP and electricity bill?   

Fastest CPU in my house now is an i5-4200U which is pants

i5-4200U IS pants... even compared to my 1055T dinosaur. It's a "smog motor" CPU, and it performs like one. 

Come on guys... I've already said the whole point of this experiment is to keep as much of my old faithful while getting up to around 60FPS/1080P for a flight sim on Steam. Should be easy-peasy.

I have two of those silent coppers, TauTech. The one that used to be on there was "fanless"; it was all huge fins like this one, bolted together into a block of copper 20mm thick then machined. Simply gorgeous; and it worked amazing with just a 120mm "cold air" case fan in the middle of the window right over the CPU as was popular back in the day.

This one incorporates a 120mm fan inside the heat pipes and is 600 grams of cooling copper with micro-polished face before you add the fan; the old one was 800ish grams (yes, I still have it  ). We're kicking it old-school here; so there's no replacement for displacement.   Either one is a 300W cooler, so not the least bit worried about keeping up with that 6-core space heater.   

Water cooling is the way to go, I'm running a AMD FX8350 8 core CPU @ 4GHx with 32GB RAM and a Nvidia Geoforce GTX960 graphics and currently running on average at 21C and peak of 30C on CPU and drawing around average 25W to 45W peak, no screaming fans trying keep CPU cool here even in the summer

I was building "quiet" back when NOBODY even thought about such things... that's why all the copper and PSUs with 200mm fans. I've been at 16GB as my personal bare minimum for over a decade; next new build will be 32GB or 64GB if I can. Part of why I wanna hold off on it a little longer.

Depends on what your time is worth tooya. If you order more, they might get to you by the time you're finished making the leads you have materiel for.

Winter downunder, well according to my son in Perth they do get into the negatives on mid winter mornings but never ice on the roads. We got to experience the coldest night in Jan for 18 years a couple of weeks back when we were there........a freezing 17C ! 
While they were reaching for their winter pyjamas, her and I slept like logs compared to the 30C nights we had a few days earlier.
