BTW if anyone is interested, there's a £1 max fees offer on ebay ending tonight for UK users. They dont tell you about it now by the looks. Link here: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/promo/

I'm going to list some stuff tonight.

I definitely heard several adverts on the shed radio* for the ePay £1 listing promotion, I'm sure I have for previous ones too.

It looks a lot like the connector in pictures 5&6 would fit, on this useful site for old electrical fittings;
https://www.plugsocketmuseum.nl/NorthAm2.html

#13 on that page is an interesting and scary enhancement to the "standard" socket.

Cool site. First time I've seen it.

I don't know how to tell you BUT that offer was on for 4 days and tonight is the last night, I suspect that you were distracted by the EleCraft RF gear  :-DD :-DD :-DD

I was distracted  :-DD

Now I'm in sell sell sell. Have listed a few things. Two more to go yet!

Here's an off the wall question for the TEA crowd: what's your favorite nonconductive adjustment/alignment tool(s)? I'm looking for some that don't end up twisting and breaking like the plastic ones I have.
1.) Bernstein combo kit 1-250 (with add ons, also applies to 1-200, both contain a mix of 1-30x/1-15x + other)
2.) Bernstein 1-750 exchangeable tip ceramic+plastic (absolute supreme)
3.) Aven Tools #13016 9-pc. ESD-safe (via Digikey)
4.) Belzer 5500/12
5.) Belzer 5500/?? (ca. 35pc)
6.) Bernstein bronze tip 1-300
7.) Bernstein 'Bernsteinit' with special plastic blades 1-150
8.) FriDaRem #777
(also any other Bernstein like 1-160, 1-190, as well as the Contrelec and Bourns tools for their trimmers)
Yes, I also own the GC Electronics #8283, but I was not overly thrilled by it. It is tucked away with the big XCelite Toolkit, so that I can go totally 'merican, if needed. ;D
The tools from the trimpot manufacturers were 2 sizes at first, with the micro form factor they have added a third.
They are useful in that they prevent you from slipping. Of course, here the dielectric construction isn't as important as in RF, and Belzer made a very nice pair in metal with little handles.)

@factory:

What are you going to do with all this tubes with white getter?   ???

I have no idea, they are still here somewhere, any suggestions? There is also a dead scope CRT with white getter here too.
They all came from a badly mistreated & very corroded early HP 175A scope, there was just enough undamaged tubes left to repopulate the 1750A vertical plug-in (which I got working), a few new ones were required for the 1781A delayed time-base plug-in (still not working due to previous owner modifications), the rest was kept for spares to keep my other two 175A scopes going.

I definitely heard several adverts on the shed radio* for the ePay £1 listing promotion, I'm sure I have for previous ones too.

Old school eh?

It's a Sailor 16T radio which I was given, according to the circuit diagram it has lots of AF117 transistors in it, but as it works I have never opened it to find out. The Motorola speaker has since been replaced with another old cheap Hi-Fi speaker as the plastic rattled too much for my liking, there is a Whiteley speaker here I intend to try at some point too.

That's a cool looking radio. I hope you open it up some day, just to have a look (and take pics, of course). :D

Danbridge Inductance Decade Box.

5 minute tear down today and a quick test. Inside was not what I expected  :o As much a close tolerance Woodwork item as and Electrical one.

Estimate maybe early 60's is about as close to a date for this based on limited Danbridge information online and how it looks internally?

Quick test using my LCR Tweezers and cross referenced against my GR 10mH 0.1% standard the box is under 0.5% across the entire range but I will do some more playing later but very happy with it.

The attention to detail in that wooden case reminds me of my Muirhead KVD.

Nice Toy  :)

I have given up waiting for a KVD to turn up for $1 so I have some high spec resistors coming from Edwin Pettis for a Hamon Divider build.

Yeah; I remember when those suicide sticks were all over the place.  :palm: There's a very similar variant still used for track lighting.

Yup... looks like they STILL run on mains voltage too, even in this LED age. Fucking imbeciles.  :palm: :palm: :palm:

I like the three different axes used for the coils.  Nice attention to detail.

Yeah; that thing is gorgeous.

@bitseeker: How high frequency you think it'll be good to? Looks like some of those bobbins are wound open-ended, while some appear to be wired as stacked-pair.  :-//

I sent him an eMail on the 4th; no response as of this morning. I know I meant to PM bitseeker with a personal message for him, but I was drawn away to family stuff IRL and evidently misplaced the neuron that "to-do" was written on.  |O

Thanks bitseeker, for taking point on that mission!

Welp... after a whole morning filling out paperwork, and another getting photos and waiting on line, I've successfully filed for my passport. I am now $230 lighter in the wallet, and one step closer to escaping the surly bonds of Tejas.

Also, Canada now knows I'm coming.  :scared: I expect them to close the borders any minute now.  :-DD

Well, they no longer take the photo as part of the application process, you have to pay for that separately; typical cost is ~$17 with tax. I also paid $60 extra for expedited 2-week processing vs standard 6-week processing.  :o

Oh, and another $70 on top of all that for certified copies of my birth certificate and photocopies of everything from FEDEX Office to send along with.  :palm:

2 moves ago: 2 months hoeing out, massive yard sale, got rid of 2 vehicles: 1 half-empty semi (long story) and 2 of the biggest trucks from UHaul.
Last move: 3 months hoeing out: 2 of the biggest trucks from UHaul.
This move: 1 year sorting-hoeing out, getting rid of 1 car, my motorcycle, plus selling all large appliances and pretty much everything not family heirloom furniture: Goal is 1 Big UHaul & Car trailer.

Lofty goals, I know.  :-DD
