Going to be a busy day here....

The Fluke 7260A from Nixiefreqq should arrive today. Last tracking had it leaving Newark, NJ last night.

Today going to check out Tek 485 and Type 191. This is the same individual that I purchased the Tek OS-245 and 465/DM44 last year. He's about an hour away and supposedly has other stuff for sale too. Should be an interesting trip.

Still have to finish troubleshooting the Heath S-3. Want to lay odds that doesn't get done today? 

And I'm falling behind on my domestic responsibilities....cleaning/vacuuming/etc. Can't have that happen.   

Oh and the Fluke 1912A is currently in Reno, Nevada with scheduled delivery on Tuesday.

Found the 2 problems on the S-3 Electronic Switch but now have a new problem.

I don't have a manual for this unit, just a schematic. So when I disassembled it I removed the tubes as they were plugged and wrote down their locations. (There's no markings on the chassis). Upon reassembly I plugged the tubes back in the same locations as I had originally found them. Well guess what?? Four tubes....two 12AU7's and two 12AX7's were swapped. In the wrong sockets. That damn gorilla again.  Once again had to shovel his crap. 

Straightened out that mess and here's the result. Almost there. "B" input, the square wave, has garbage on it. I just have to do some scoping around to find out where it's coming from. But it's been a long day so I'll tackle this in the AM.

Yes, there's a small amount on the Sine wave too. But I'm sure if I track down the source on the square wave it will fix both.

Me and my insurance agent are going to need to have a serious discussion about my car insurance. My rates did NOT go down when I retired. What kind of bullshit is that? I no longer drive to work on a daily basis. Sometimes I don't even leave the house. And $1200 USD/yr and one vehicle doesn't even have collision coverage on it? (The Civic).    No accidents/tickets. 

And to top it off I have my renter's insurance with them too so "Bundled policies" for additional discount.

I'm gonna be loaded for bear. This sucks.

I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out...

In restoring my Fluke 332D Voltage Standard, I found that the extender card is missing, which makes troubleshooting a pain in the arse...

Does anyone have one they're willing to sell, or have the connectors shown in the attached images, either loose or on salvaged/faulty boards etc?

I have some really bad news for you:

- the extender cards are nearly unobtanium
- same for the connectors. I am on the hunt for them since several years

I'm with you on that one, it sucks like hell. My car gets so little use these days that my TomTom satnav often has a flat battery. Its been many years since I had an accident that was my fault but my insurance is excessive in my view. But of course I live in rip off Britain [emoji53]

And like wise insurance rates are high in New York State because of the NYC. Those a-holes like to play bumper cars down there and it has a ripple affect across the entire state.

Oh and insurance companies take a dim view to "one driver and multiple vehicles" as is for me. It leads them to suspect you are "hiding" a high risk driver or an unlicensed driver. Had an agent admit this to me. Well they can go fuck themselves because I ain't hiding nobody.

It’s not that bad actually. I think of it as fractionally faster than a DS1054Z. I played with one on the rigol stand for a bit at Kempton.

The DS1054Z isn't exactly best in class or known for its snappy or polished interface.

US$ 2.76 = EUR 2.46 (per today)

Little update on the HP 53310a.

Since electrolytic was poring out of the PSU I recapped the whole thing.

That's a lot o' caps! What made you use axials in there? Convenient stock? People are usually doing just the opposite since axials cost more.

Hope you get the power supply sorted. Looking forward to seeing how this 53310A runs.

Was the closest value I found locally. Decided to try to buy locally whanever I can. I don't think the store where I buy parts update their prices very often. Was cheaper to get axial then radial online. Last time I went there I also realized they have tons of old IC too. Definitly my go to place now for parts.

It's hard to make a direct comparison, but in almost all cases the lower taxes in the US are offset by the extra costs of insurance and then some. We're not even talking about the typical US coverage, or lack thereof. It honestly makes paying taxes look rather attractive.

Wow med, that is so cheap compared to over here, I just filled my car up and it took 48.87litres and cost me £66.67, to fill it up where you go it would cost me just £25.06

Kicker is, those edge connectors have a stupid shipping price to Japan ($200), so I'd need someone to freight forward a bunch to me....

OK, I'm back from my scrounge hunt and here's what followed me home: 

Tek 485 in kinda rough shape. Does not power up. Completely dead. I believe it uses an SMS supply so it's probably going to be an interesting fix. It's missing feet. Have some. The channel 2 variable control broken off. Uses the fiberglass rods. Got a shit load of them. And I'm sure I can find a suitable knob. Case a little battered but in tact. Spray paint will clean that right up. Into the project cue.



This next one is the real jewel. Type 191 Signal Generator. According to the seller it works. Didn't care, I'd be willing to fix it. It's filthy but all in one piece. And it has a BNC adapter to that weird output connector. What are they called? I've seen them before on other equipment. I'll do a show and tell tear down of this 191 and the 485 later. Also get manuals downloaded.

The Pins are sold out. And the part number does not match.

The connectors listed on ebay have also a different part number.

Be careful, I'm not sure, if those connectors will really fit with the cards in your device.
