You know what, I'd rather have a Jag XK8 and show you how a real car performs [emoji1787][emoji1787]

You know what they say... "If you buy a Jag, buy two so you'll have something to drive while it's in the shop".   :P

No don't you believe it, they say that BMW means Back to Motor Workshop and I've known a few people who have had them and they did indeed spend a lot of time in the service centres.

Had NOTHING to do with that. I wasn't a fatass when I raced; I was a 250lbs bench/2000lbs leg press weightlifter. You can't hurt me any more than fate and my own hubris already have. ;)

I was talking about you mrrr-frrrs keeping on nerd-sniping me with motor vehicles so I couldn't pull myself away to do the work I needed to get done!    :palm:

Speaking of which... lots of ON-TOPIC on the bench today; hopefully pics tomorrow.  >:D

GOOD-NIGHT ALL YOU FREAKS!!!  :-DD

Who's trying to hurt you?  :-// Not I. Simply suggesting if you want to get something done then log off.  :scared:

But after reading your rant about the current generation Corvette I now understand what you desire it to be.....

This....I once had the pleasure of having in my possession for a few days a 1969 Corvette with the lesser HP 427 big block and a 4 speed stick. Beautiful car. Fast. But at the same time a sloppy POS. First thing you notice upon sitting in the driver's seat is the HUGE steering wheel. One you'd find in a city bus. And I'll tell you...it steered like one. Absolutely limp and unresponsive handling. But it went like stink in straight line and the hurst shifter was slick and precise. And the sound of that 427 V-8 was music to my ears. But don't try to stop. Unboosted 4 wheel disc brakes that needed 100 pounds foot pressure to get them to grab. But granted, I had been spoiled by power brakes. So all in all a beautiful car with shitty handling. I'll bet on a road course my 1.7 liter/115HP Honda Civic could eat it's lunch.  :-DD

Some years ago, at a track day, we were doing 'anchor out' type stops (straight and curves) on a watered down bit of bitumen, the worst performer was a lotus Elise, an e-class benz looked like it was glued to the road stopping in around 7m (IIRC) from 60km/hr, my volvo v70 20v came second.
I have had a great experience of being a 'navigator' in a Targa, in my mate's Porsche GT3 RS4, until he rolled it, (I was inside) - I have a lot more respect for a roll cage and 6 point belts that we did up properly. That car could straighten out corners at 100-200km/hr like nothing - lovely flat torque curve.
For a laugh - at the other end of the spectrum - my daily drive is a Golf Mk 7.5 turbo diesel, I drive it like I want to, and still get 5 l/100km, (47 us mpg, 56 imperial mpg) no real power though - saves on speeding fines!  Don't ask!
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

Tesla roadster? Yep....fast. VERY fast. But "refueling" is an issue.

Non Tek analog scope? Think "Telequipment". That will kill your hankering.  :-DD

I was thinking of starting a sweepstake on the interval between you selling your last analogue scope, and realising that a ds1054z wasn't enough for your tastes :)
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Electric cars might well be the future but they have many problems to over come before they become a threat to the combustion engine, range and refuelling being the main two.

Haha, you clearly remember the last time he declared that the Rigol was the way to go and then out of the blue wham a 180 degree reversal. Mind you he is right, digital can do so much more but you cannot operate them without paying close attention because everything is hidden in nested menus, unlike a rotary control of an analogue.

It's the pitiful X-Y mode on the DS1054Z that kills me every time.

The Rigol is the way to go. 100% it is.

But I think you need an analogue too. Just for the edge cases where it's not the best. That's probably because I'm an old fart though. TBH I may grab a 20MHz Hameg shitbox for the X-Y mode and built in octopus

I know what you mean , that's where my delightful combiscope scores TBH it's all the scope I need with both modes at the touch of a button, but it is those nested menus that make them less friendly. Decent analogue is readable from its control set position. Makes buying a used one easier because you can often spot user error via control knob position to give you vital clues about when the seller not working etc. Digital it's impossible to do that.

Here are the results of my time nut experiment. The 1912A and 7260A were left on all night chewing on 100KHz from a FeelTech Function Generator. For fun decided to add in the 2465 DMS with frequency readout. I had calibrated the Counter option on that scope several years ago with the Chinese frequency counter and the Heath IG-4244 Scope Calibrator so I was curious to see how it compared.

100KHz

1MHz

2MHz

Switched over to the Type 191. Approx 21MHz.

Approx 50MHz.

So.....who's telling the truth? I don't know the history of the 1912A. The 2465 was calibrated by me using an unknown source. But I am pleased that it's very close. I have to conclude that the 7260A is most likely the accurate counter because Nixiefreqq said so and I'm sure he compared it to his other counters. So I going to tweak the 1912A down to match the 7260A. I'm going to leave the 2465 as it's close enough and not my primary counter.

LOL here we go. The answer is actually “none of them”. This is why I have a GPSDO and that’s not even the truth but a well formed opinion.

The actual truth is too complicated for our primitive instrumentation.

Notice I said that the 7260A was "most likely" the most accurate.  :-DD For my purpose it will be my "standard"  :-/O

As of right now I have no intention of going any further with this time nut stuff. It makes my head hurt.  |O :-DD
