Parting it out is a sin  :scared:

Looks like something made by Datron

Yup, and I believe I'll find more serried ranks in the second 1/3 of that purchase.

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Uuggh... so bored. Have DBA, so NO buying anything today. Or tomorrow... or next week...

There's nowhere to go, or any reason to go out.  Not in the mood for TV/Netflix/Hulu/etc.   :blah:

I'm reduced to downloading the PDF's of the User Guide, Service Manual, Programming Manual, etc., for all the equipment I own, and organizing them into a nice folder hierarchy, etc., etc.  :o

Did I mention being really bored?  :-DD

I guess I could breadboard up a circuit of some sort to play around with my new 'scope.  Or I could open up that 1660A and see if there are any dodgy looking caps in there to replace.  But all of that sounds like work. Not in the cards today.   ::)

Come up with some new TEA terms for the glossary?  :-//

I've finally got around to opening 1/3 of a previous acquisition.

If I can't figure out how to use it, at least I should be able to recoup my investment...

The serried ranks are all 20K 0.005% Vishay VHP202K resistors. I believe the handwritten number are the serial numbers. A quick google indicates they are oil-filled bulk metal foil resistors, and if you have to ask the price, you can't afford them :)

No, I'm not going to say what this is, other than that it is a 3U 19" rack unit, and the schematic is shown on the front panel :)

Wooee impressive. You definitely scored this time. Not sure what it is though.

Absolutely no shame in that. I have an extensive softcopy library of operator/service manuals for all my equipment categorized by manufacturer. Also I keep a record, on the computer as well as hardcopy, of all projects plus test equipment. Anytime I make a repair or modification I document it so I recall exactly what I did.

I'm finally trying to fix something that doesn't involve a failing capacitor. The CPU, on the instrument I'm repairing, seem to have some difficulties to read from the EPROM. That was the perfect occasion to try the logic analyzer functionality of the Adalm2000.

End result == the little blue guy is definitely not up to the task  :( The software is buggy as hell and even though the thing has a 100MSPS capture rate it's struggling to capture a signal at 3Mhz. I guess you are better off with a specialized device and not the swiss knife of TE. I'm thinking of selling that thing now.

Had the get the old Saleae Logic8 out. Work like a charm. The new version of their software is really nice.

Saleae (and compatible) logic analyzers are really good. Plus the software has a bunch of decoding and triggering options.

Thanks... now I'm jonesing for an Agilent  8164A Lightwave Measurement System... even though I have no idea what it's for, how you use it, or what I'd do with it.   :-DD

I knew you would.  :-+ But I'm sort of in the same place. I have so much stuff laying around here that needs repair/restore that unless something comes along that's an absolute screaming deal I'm going to pass for now.

Today is my sixty-first birthday. That's an impressive number given what I have put this meat bag through. To celebrate, SWMBO took me out to dinner at a local restaurant that happens to have a butcher shop.  Here are two of the gifts I received:

About the key fob... one day after a particularly frustrating conference call, I walked into the kitchen, announced someone seemed to have slipped a full dose of fukitolTM into my club soda, and went outside to spend the rest of the day on the deck, reading a biography of Newton.  SWMBO had never heard the term before, interwebbed it, and turned it into a birthday present.

I accidentally gifted myself (set up a sniper as a place holder two weeks ago and forgot about it) an 8184H power sensor, claimed to be in working order, to complete my power meter kit. 436 tear down evaluation and photos to follow. Must RTFM before proceeding so as to avoid destroying any of the sensors.
specialization is for insects.

When you retire one of the standard accessories that comes along with it is a free lifetime supply of Fukitol. It's amazing how well it works.  >:D :-DD
