nope.  thought about it but it would have involved reading the manual.  am guessing you save the traces and then do a subtraction?

figured i could look at the 3dB slope across the sweep range and subtract it in my brain.

(ok ok ........... will go rtfm)

Normalising negates any amplitude nonlinearities in the sweep and leaves you with a flat line from which more accurate measurements are derived.

Yes, RTFM.  ;)

decided use it to test return loss on a 1296 Mhz 10 element home brew antenna.

swept the antenna from 1275 to 1325 Mhz.

am i happy with the 8569b?  is it a useful instrument?  damn right it is!

winner winner chicken dinner!

Plus it apparently has a knack for rendering sketches of the most fun part of a lady’s wardrobe...

Yep, the Type 181 is a very handy device.  :-+ One of these days I'll get one. In the meantime I use other, but slightly less accurate, means to check the timebase on my Tek Tribe.

I take the 181 on and off my should-have list. They are used quite frequently in the signal generator calibrations. You can work around not having one with a good frequency counter so I don't really need one but there's something about counting tic marks on a CRO screen that just can't be beat.  ;D

I know some of you in here are aircraft, especially warbirds, fans.

7 killed yesterday when a B-17 went down in Connecticut. There's only about 18 or so still flying.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/vintage-b-17-plane-crashes-erupts-flames-bradley-international-airport-n1061161
Yeah, apparently it was carrying paying passengers and lost an engine on take off and radioed the tower that he had an emergency and requested permission to return. Tower asked him if he could hold off a few minutes as they had some jets waiting to take off, the pilot said that he couldn't and was coming straight back. He apparently hit a building during landing (allegedly) and burst into flames. My son works on an aviation website and he said that the voice recording between plane and tower has been released and there was hint of panic or confusion on the pilots side.

Looking at the news clip it seems that the plane was on the ground when it hit the building, but my son thought according what he was told that the wing clipped a building while it was still in the air?

May be someone was making video of the flight which will be released in due course and we might learn something new then. Meanwhile my thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and the injured.

Aesthetics aside, any old crystal-based frequency generator should be more than sufficient for a 2% CRT
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Blimey. One for Specmaster... Just took the PC case I bought to bits. It's only a Micro ATX but there's 1x 5 1/4" hole, 4x 3.5" disk bays, 4x 2.5" mounts and the board takes 2x NVMe SSDs. Expansion worries sorted  :-DD
I knew the case would be OK, its a CoolMaster but what about the Motherboard, how many free expansion slots does it have left after you fit the graphics card and NVMe SSD's?

Speaking of barriers and Walls and RPN comes up. Coincidence? - I think not ;)

Just need to put it somewhere now. First one looks good and up to the job so a second is underway. Time to empty one of my cable drawers.

But first several Coffees ......

edit - first one installed. Not an ideal location as the PC sits under it so the leads need to be doubled over. Sort of my everyday driver leads.

Yeah... no wall behind me to put them on was the main reason I haven’t started on mine yet. I like them in that filament; from this angle, looks almost like it might have been milled from G10 like I used to use for RC car chassis.

As you might imagine, that’s a look I greatly approve of. :-+

Ehhh... It’s been a rough few weeks. My associations maaaay have grown a little loose of late. ;)

I use the Clear PLA and PETG a lot.

FDM is what it is and showing of off with the internal structure semi visible is a positive for a lot of jobs. Trying to get a machined or polished/injection molded look is pointless even smoothed ABS isn't consistent in an Engineering sense.

I gotta redo some of their lyrics to fit this group - I'm thinking of "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" ... yea I think it would work.
