Wow, I'm surprised. The answer is RIGHT THERE.  |O

voltage readings are wrong I think. now I have to read ahead to the proper current end of the thread to find out if I am wrong.

 ;D

edit: i was correct. i am going to bask in my self-generated glory for a while before posting again.  >:D

Vintage high-end TE is like many mid 90's and earlier vehicles - They were solid designs and builds. So solid that people ran them for decades with minimal maintenance, but now the neglect is showing and overhauls are necessary. You get what you put in, though, and if you take the extra time to inspect and clean everything during the course of your repairs, they'll be set to last for another couple decades.

Agreed... solid, and usually, straightforward designs and builds. I have Tek gear that was calibrated in 1987, put in storage in 1988, and not turned on again until 2019 (you do the arithmetic) and it generally just works. Most of the repair work I've done over the last six months has involved replacing bad caps, cleaning switches, and tweaking calibration.

Granted, I've been working mostly on signal generators, DMMs, and the like that all operate under 100MHz and I've not spent a lot of time working on oscilloscopes, but still... a lot of bang for the buck left in this old gear. (as I demonstrated when I shorted the plus and minus 150VDC rails through a 2W resistor last week)   ;D

IF... that CA5 is getting a helium-balloon assist in lifting the weight of those dozen dark-matter-laden 547s, yes. Otherwise, just going to be some very noisy taxiing.   ;)

Good Lord Man... you've just spent the last six months digging out of your current predicament and trying to fit what was left into a convey of trailer trucks and you're encouraging this innocent young soul to start buying 55L containers?

HAVE YOU NO SHAME?

It can only carry FOUR 63 ton tanks at a time?  What a piece of crap!!  /s   >:D

Even knowing how airplanes work, it still amazes me that you can get one off the ground with not one, but four main battle tanks in it.   :o :o :o  (Just be damned sure to tie them down tightly - if THAT load shifts it will definitely ruin your day.)

Oh my. The USPS carrier left this on my porch about fifteen minutes ago:

Giant packaging fail. What was the seller thinking?  |O

The worst thing: I bought this stuff as a lot. There is no inventory of it and I will not be able to figure out what was lost.   |O

And USPS couldn't even be bothered to slap a label on it noting the damage, let alone some packing tape.  |O

Again.....don't you have some looooooong driving to do?  :-// :-//

Wasn’t it you who just a few dozen pages back had to replace a fuzzy CRT...?  ;)

Looooong driving is done. Everything that remains is nice short 3-4 hour chunks.  ;D

Today was a good TEA day. I received my basically like-new -hp- 8672A synthesized signal generator. And I went from 1 Tek P6042 to 3, plus some spare unobtainium transistors and cabling to replace the bad probe cable on the one I got with a pile of Tek gear at hamfest.  :-+
If you connect the Analogic2045 as modulation generator and add a decent amplifier I can see some monitoring bozos quitting their job on a mental sanity ticket.

Thanks to everyone for their help, unfortunately I can't quite get away with stuffing that much equipment under my bed  :-DD. I've thrown up a post in the buy/sell/wanted section, fingers crossed.

Or have black helicopters hovering overhead.

I was once an arms importer. I imported an HP boat anchor that was a DDS plus hardware for modulating the output each sample. Allegedly it could spoof military aircraft (etc etc), and so for export puposes it was classified as a munition.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Lots of stupid shit like that out there. I remember the stupid crypto munitions export laws in the US. Guess who was responsible for filling in the paperwork so the US subsidiary could export it to the UK subsidiary.  :palm:. Haha but you couldn’t file the declaration unless it was sent over a secure channel. Which we didn’t have because you couldn’t import it. So we had to get the home office involved to declare a 2m square bit of ground as US territory for a week, pop a couple of cryptos in onto one of the dark networks. Whole thing was a joke.

Edit: oh and two weeks after we fixed all that, Clinton relaxes the restrictions

Sorry.  If I was to have my own aeroplane, I doubt it would be a C130.

Of course not.  Clearly insufficient for the task.  Any TEA'r would need a C5A.

I thought about that after I posted ... then I thought I'd wait and see if someone would pick up on it.

I didn't have to wait long.
