I finally took the time to clean up the Power Designs 2005a power supply I got a while ago. (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/test-equipment-anonymous-(tea)-group-therapy-thread/msg2379117/#msg2379117, been almost a year already  :o)

Before cleanup:

After cleanup:

This is the older model with an ovenised voltage reference (the big red capsule).

Interestingly all the caps are still in good shape, but the switches were a little bit crusty. So I started by cleaning everything with a lot of IPA. Then I applied some Deoxit G5 on the switch contacts with a syringe. And then I applied some Deoxit S5 (lubricant) on most of the moving parts of the switches.

The results after calibration and adjustment:

I'm fairly new but I think I've contracted this thing. I bought a very shitty but functional V-212 scope. I could be sitting in front of it watching its waves for half an hour without doing a thing. I'm now bidding on another V-212 (looking tidier) and have no desire of getting rid of the current one.

Well, we won't judge you because your scope of choice is an Hitachi. Truth be told they are decent scopes and I know pickings are slim in Oz. Your application has been reviewed and accepted. You are addicted. Welcome.  :-+

Oopsie...sorry. I did not mouse over the flag and unfortunately with these old eyes and the fact that the flags of each are similar I made a bad assumption. I stand corrected.  :-DD

After reviewing this thread I believe I might have caught TEA. Please review for eligibility.

Nice rack to the right there, DAT recorders aren't very common anymore. I suspect audio interest?

Yes, you're in the right spot.

That reminds me of my HP3456A:

It's the transformers equivalent of a 'lytic letting go of its innards. And fitting transformers are usually not found in one's component boxes. :'( Or cheaply available at [insert your favorite store].

I was already attracted from outer looks, but those wonderful laced looms.

I'm lost.

Yes, I once argued for and won the discussion, which meant that we laced the internal cable system of an entire OB vehicle. That usually means 10+km cable crammed into something slightly larger than a 20ft shipping container. What won the others over was that while lacing takes more time and skill (but you learn very quickly on the job, given enough practice), it is not only orders of magnitude more beautiful and functional, it also takes up less room. Cable ties were too clumsy.

Very nice, Papa Smurf   :palm:

EDIT: Hah, forgot to post some pics.

Been making test lead tidies out of YT2 minitrunking this afternoon:

By the time the lockdown is over, I'll probably have a tidy workspace!

That's brilliant idea! I'ts like having your own pseudo 3D printer :)

Haha yeah, except this is completely free as the trunking is an offcut from work, and it's a lot quicker to make as well...

Those cheap-arsed 4.5 digit panel meters just arrived, and the only comment I can make is WOW:
