Those Farnell E series supplies are pretty nice and very small. I did a refurb on one a couple of years ago. Will see if I can dig out the post

This is a ET30/2 , yes thanks if you can find. :-+

It's spread all over the place so I will consolidate it all. Three notes:

1. There's a RIFA hiding in it. Usually across the output terminals. This is not the end of the world scenario but it needs removing on principle.
2. Also there is no reverse protection diode across the output or across the pass transistor so if you're using it to drive something which can shove current back into the supply (capacitors, batteries) it'll blow the shit out of the pass transistors if the line supply fails or is switched off by someone using the vacuum cleaner :-DD. Stuff a fat diode across the output and the pass transistors.
3. The push switches get a bit dicky. They are unobtainium so you will have to get creative with mounting a toggle switch or something alternative. Plus there is mains on the main board so be careful.

Action shot:

Inside. Whole thing breaks in half in the middle with an edge connector.

Front panel with new RIFA replacement, new output cap and additional diode:

Pass transistor diode (on rear heatsink)

I rather like 'em when they're working.

Yours might be a later one with some of the issues fixed. There were about 5-6 revisions.

Edit: oh watch out for the voltage reference diode and resistor. They run hot! Burned myself on the bugger.

Are you quite sure that you've got enough of 'em Tony?  :)
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

They will sell really well. I've seen them go for £20 over the usual retail price at hamfests here  :-DD

My ham equipment now runs for approx 5 years on HP (common slot, Delta) gold ex-server smps's (460 - 1200W) without ANY hf interference. Highly recommended. Efficiency over 94%!
I bought them for Euro 7,50.

What voltages do you get the 1200W at -  is it mostly available at 12V ?

The older versions are adjustable fro. around 11.5 to 13.4V.
The newer versions adjustability is less due to the efficiency requirements.
However, it is quite possible to change the internal settings but max power
is limited to the component selection (test criteria).
However, with 2400W available it becomes difficult to wisely use more power.
So it is wise to first know exactly what you are doing before disaster strikes.

They are beauties in terms of stability, noise, cooling and space usage.
And again, no HF, VHF & SHF interference.
My most used ones are the 460W versions.
Parallel and serial usage possible by floating earth mods.
Other uses: Lipo charging, mining equipment, etc.

I had about 30 pieces of similar TrippLite 13.8V/3A that were sitewide pulls from a network.

Flipped them quick for average ~$30 each; you know the drill: start out at $40, then by the time you've saturated the market you're blowing them out at $20 each...  :-DD

You have to trickle them out slowly even if it takes years if you don't want to saturate the market. Think it took me about 4 years to sell a box of germanium transistors. Fortunately slap bang in the middle of "peak pedal nonsense"  :-DD. That's why I got fat that box of transistors  :-DD

   THIS!!!

Yeah... you remember that pic of a hallway wall with about 20 linear feet of stacked oscilloscopes we all gabbled about a year or two back...? That's what I had with these PSUs in the front hallway (so I could get to them and send them out; my office looked like this at the time) for about 5-6 weeks. By the time I was done, even I was sick of stubbing my toezz on the pile...  |O

I am saying that I think Tony should have no trouble being able to sell these off.   :-+  I would be interested in two plus a spare, except .....
I have north american mains power, plus shipping over the pond makes it a bit too expensive.

As for bulk buying, I did the same with window screening to keep the bugs out (how timely, since we have recent photos of the darn bugs).  I bought a 500 ft roll of 8 ft wide aluminum screen, even though I only needed 32 ft of the stuff.  I sold enough to pay for the roll and still have some left; SWMBO thinks the rest is spare since it was hard to find.  Okay, it actually was hard to find.  >:D

I still think it looks like a black and white minstrel suddenly had a good idea.

Oh, bloody hell. You're not going to cross post it to that thread. Are you?

And don't, whatever you do, look at these advertising collectibles from my (our?) youth!

Oh hell I'd forgotten how bad it was. Just clicked through about 20 seconds of it and I'm done  :palm:. I remember having to watch it at my grandmother's house on a tiny little tube black and white TV that smelled of a combination of death and hot cigarette tar.

I think I have 4 or 5 left, including the ones in that photo. Unfortunately, they're all locked up in a trailer in a storage lot in BuffaloNY. Along with my LAMBDAs and my 2465s and my welder and my dwagon-sized toolbox and...

The only things in that photo which came with are the 189, the DE-5000 and the RS/OLED T12 soldering station. Oh, and the Aorus (in my then spankin'-new gaming rig) and a handful of patch cords. I had to pare it all down to fit into one toolcase like this one for the border xing...
