What I need right now is an exterminator, we have some varmint hiding under the roof.

My daughter's dog would love that. The only thing that distracts him from chasing a ball is a squirrel or something under the floorboards.

Sorry for my missing enthusiasm, but from an RF perspecitve this repair is absolutely substandard.
Why not wait for a proper replacement mixer so signal integrity is preserved ?
 >:D |O :--

If it works & meets specs, the only objection can be aesthetics.

When I worked in TV & Radio Broadcasting, we often had to subsitute equivalent, if "different looking" components to maintain service, especially with equipment from Europe.

Many of the EU manufacturers had an "Australia? -----------Too far away, let 'em wait!" attitude!

On one occasion, a 10 kw Thomson TV transmitter had its 28v high current DC supply fail.
Repair or replacement?

Repair was measured in weeks (if we could get the parts), replacement in months, which was not good enough for the owners of the Tx, who were a country commercial station, with no backup transmitter.

As luck would have it, we had a spare 32v Power supply from an NEC transmitter, belonging to the National broadcaster, who agreed to a loan.
It could be shifted down in voltage, & still had sufficient current capacity.

The problem was, it was much bigger than the failed one, so it sat outside the Thomson, with big, thick cables making the requisite DC connection.

The NEC was fully enclosed, so was safe by the standards of the day, but these days, people would scream Aieee!  & run around in circles! :scared:

The NEC supply did sterling service for months, till the replacement Thomson unit arrived.

I have to be with Wolfgang on this one. The original "A" style case mixer had its case soldered to the PCB around the edges. They didn't do that for fun. I'd posit that it was to reduce leakage or radiation from th case. The B case replacement has leads up in the air, clearly not the same. It is debatable if this makes any difference to the performance but I/m pretty sure the unit was not fully tested to specification for spurious outputs and noise, including phse noise, across the whole output range of frequency and amplitude. It probably does not matter for most applications, but why not do it properly?

Simple answer: Because the unit was on my bench for one day only, and this success is worth more than waiting a few days or weeks for the proper mixer to be ordered and delivered.

Kikusui in Dresden for local pickup ...

Ahh yes, the "pee-yellow" color scheme really is very seldom seen.
Edit: upon closer inspection, it does have digital storage and roll mode so it's quite a bit more than the basic analog 2-ch jobby.

This is one of the AD587UQ references (thanks to BU508):

Note, the jumper is disconnected, it's the factory trimmed output.

Lucky one, but TC near room temperature looks slightly worse than the AD587KN that I've murdered. Don't have any quantitative measurements, need to set up this sometime. It's quite a long time ago that I've looked into logging data from the 34401A through GPIB.

Interesting the DVM is part hollow state, one of my 1960's Solartron DVM is too.
What are the new ePay rules the seller doesn't like, have they got to have the ePay managed crap too?

The Tek delay lines probably belong with one of the piles of scope boards they have listed, not sure exactly which models they are from.

Looks like you need to calibrate something. If they both show 10.00014, but one is connected via a second lead that must have a voltage drop, then one of them is either reading slightly low or the other slightly high. :D

McBryce.

Assuming the test leads have 1 Ohm resistance (they don't, it's rather 0.1Ohm ballpark), voltage drop across them would be 1uV (assuming the 34401A is set 10M input impedance) - the last digit shows 10uV resolution   ::)

Anyway, both multimeters are specified to about 40ppm at this range and readings, that would be +/- 40 digits here ...

@med: "Hi.... welcome to TEAnonymous! Have we met...?" :-DD

Putting a working firearm in the hands of anybody but me terrifies me.
Most of the world is very different to the US where in most countries sidearms are very redistricted whereas a longarm should be considered as just another tool and firearms have perfectly valid uses and gun sports are part of Olympic competitions where those competitors are just as heavily invested as us here in TEA.

We each have different hobbies and interests.

I had to make a mini-glaive yesterday by zip-tying a paring knife to a pole; the ding-dong who installed our dryer vent left the zip-tie on it from when it was on the shelf in the store, and I couldn't get the grill off to clean it. :palm:

The local hardware store stocked "Live animal traps".
My thought was that they wouldn't work at all well for dead ones!

Zombie varmints??

Well, I'm disappointed in all of you splitting hares over the whole thing if you're not going to take the RThévenin of the source into account which, calculating from the datasheet's output regulation figures, might be as high as \$100m\Omega\$, on the same order as the resistance posited for the test leads (Which by the way, from previously having measured my collection of test leads, is likely to be close to \$20m\Omega\$).  :)
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?
