reached agreement with realtor. Negotiating with employer.

Good deal. Hope it all falls in place.  :-+

Thanks.

Boss said that nobody said "no" yet and he is escalating to our group head plus HR and the business function.

When did the rule on using torque screwdrivers come in in the UK? I didn't see the muppet who replaced our consumer unit a couple of years ago. Mind you he managed to trip it off a couple of times. One was terminating a SWA feed for a heat pump to the isolator. He connected the MCB before the isolaotor  |O
Anyone using SMAs or precision RF connectors should have torque spanners too. I have several and a torque calibrator to set them  (cross checked with the fancy digital one at work).

Uh oh, am I going to fall out of favor again if I admit that I don't own any torque tools?  :o :scared:

I am using the sound of two colliding small powerful magnets as my SMS notification. Hard to miss.

That's far too missable for my ears, but it is nice :(

Irritatingly my phone only has canned choices for messages.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Not with me. Us old buggers have mostly had enough experience as not to need them......cylinder heads, big ends and main bearing caps excluded.  :P

Attached you see my primary WIHA TorqueVario-S 2872 handle, it can be set to 0.8 - 5.0 Nm. In my mobile case I also have a couple of fixed torque adapters for convenience (currently I don't have it with me), they can be flexibly switched but cover the most widely required values.

That WIHA slimBit 6mm system is very nice in general and can be conveniently combined. Don't know how I was able to live before it :-)

Some people are still wondering why it constantly "clicks" when I tighten critical screw terminals.

Most joins are made with Wago 221's now.

Personally, I hate wire nuts, and love 221's. They are fantastic. And of course, a bit expensive. But worth it.

Marking is done, if at all, on the outlet/switch face, and indicates the fuse number and distribution board.

I don't know what you're talking about, I get them for free...

When you're pulling in enough cables to fill a 3-phase 64-way board, you mark the cables or you're going to have a very bad day when it comes time to terminate them.

Torque-drivers are required by the regs here for termination into boards (ie MCBs, RCBOs, earth/neutral bars etc), though not for accessories (sockets, switches, spurs etc).

There’s something to be said in support of a proper apprenticeship scheme where a year or two of gripping and dragging cables builds sufficient strength to twist a screwdriver with sufficient force to make a properly sound connection.
Limp wristed sparkles need be shown the door and warned not to let it hit them on the way out !  :box:
Harsh words considering that we are now having an influx of the fairer sex into the trade now, who probably don't have that degree of strength in their wrists and any attempt to show the door is likely to, especially if she is a batshit crazy red head going to be rather painful  >:D

Re torque settings, as I have been playing 'a lot of bicycle' at the moment, torque settings are everywhere - I think for a very good reason - carbon fibre can be pretty brittle and I have stripped a few alloy bolt heads in my time. Park tool makes quite a nice variable torque T driver unit which takes 1/4 inch hex drive, for not crazy $.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

If someone here already has a TorqueVario and faces such a problem, I could recommend WIHA 283108 as Adapter. I use it mostly to access cabinets and for battery terminals and such things. It's compatible with all the 6mm equipment.

Just for fun I once put the adapter into the small electronics handle, put in an 1/4" to 1/2" adapter, added a 30mm nut and gave to our mechanics guy with a serious look on my face. Made my day.

Finally got my second dose of Bill G nanoparticles. Installing windows on all my things now.

More seriously, full on macguyver mode today. It’s amazing that projects get 99.9% complete and then someone realises they forgot a critical part like make A talk to B  :palm:. Thus sticky tape it is  :palm:

5100 DMM updates:

The 5100AF manual I found on-line is close but there are differences.  I orderd a 5100 paper manual from an eBay seller in the US.   Seller won't ship to the UK, so it is going to a relative.   It will get here eventually.

Most of the power supply voltage tests  reference  to TP4 / Mecca.     It is not in the best location.   I've taken the opportunity to get a pin socket to banana test lead.

More cramped then it looks in the photo  (click for larger view)

Why not, they did back in the day when that was a current product. I don't see why there should be a problem as long as the probes and leads are in good condition.

I plan to use my Beckman 310  to check the +/-  300V on the Dana 5100.   I trust it more than my other meters on anything over 100V.     The plan is to get the Dana to the point where I can safely use it on high voltages.
