I'll be interested to see where it goes next.    At least the most recent move took it closer to Wales.    Edit:  Maybe,  I need to consult a map.  Osaka is a bit south from Narita.

Usually FedEx IE from China goes to Köln or Paris De Gaul then Stansted or East Midlands.     Last few have taken more creative routes.

I doubt that judging by my recent experience with BangGood. I think you'll check the tracking in a few times and find that the nest update will be telling you that it has been scanned in, here in the UK, possibly at Heathrow like mine was and then approx 2 days time it will arrive at your local dept.

Have you taken the TORCH  >:D outside for a proper go yet? I can get reasonable light at 50-60m with the beam focused down (to wide for a hunting light before any Blam Blam fans ask ;) )
Coffee, Food, R/C and electronics nerd in no particular order. Also CNC wannabe, 3D printer and Laser Cutter Junkie and just don't mention my TEA addiction....

Ebay day...

I'm guessing this is some kind of add-on for an analogue scope?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373665355480

It'll probably go for silly money, but a 123 went for less than £150 earlier in the week so maybe not:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184963984101

This wouldn't be horribly overpriced even on the BIN if the description is truthful:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255070849654

Cheap old scope for a beginner:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284385896498

Repair job for BD? Or maybe for a Photonicinduction-style pop vid:

More TDS goodness, though a tad salty this one. Maybe a lowball is called for:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144126973759

This seller has a couple of these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294302227350

This has sold now but made me double-take and then chuckle and shake my head:

Yes, I took it out last night, and it worked really well going from a very wide beam circular floodlight, then onto a narrower square beam and then onto a nicely focused narrow circular long beam, although I have not tested the distance of that beam. The instructions not to look at the LED itself for fear of eye damage, I keep wondering about animals that are caught in its beam, how would they fare. A bit worried about my 2 cats who love to chase light beams. :palm:

Yes, will check them more closely this evening and report back.

Yes, I'll do that. Not sure, when I'll have the time to replace the VfD, I hope, this weekend.

No, I have it set up on my browser that it goes directly to the TEA thread. It says that goes to page 1701, so thats a lie, it goes directly to current page. :-DD
It's easy to find. Just Google eevblog tea from any browser tab and it'll give you a page of hits, most of which will take you here. :-//

Thank you.

I now own that. It does indeed look new based on the binding posts.

That is HORRENDOUSLY cheap for the condition. Usually £200 for a manky one and they are about £800 new in that condition  :-DD

The weird reading on the display is expected as well as none of the measurement buttons are poked in.

Edit: used to own one years ago

Ok update on the Farnell TOPS1. It's knackered. Just how I like things.

So I stripped it down properly at lunch and catalogued the issues. Looks like there are a few bits of corrosion in it. What did I expect for £20? A project that's what. And I got one.

So first thing the power LED doesn't work. I checked the series diode and resistor and both were fine. But there was 8v across the LED which is wroooong. So I snipped off the heat shrink and found this lurking:

Made up a replacement and installed it and that works.

The 5V section works fine now I removed the philips cap which is good. But the +/-15V is knackered. It outputs 12.6v on each rail and this slowly drifts. On the negative supply, which everything is referenced to the current limit LED is stuck on. Quick finger poke around found a hot LM741C:

I tested VT6, VT3 and did some measurements on the current sampling resistors (R10) and R18 and found that the LM741 was slinging out 26mA trying to servo VT5 into meeting its objective. Despite its best efforts, due to the relatively low rail compliance of the LM741, it could only get a reference comparison voltage at the opamp input of 4V from the divider and it needed to match up to to the ref voltage of 5.3V.
So I figured VT5 was popped. Alas no it was the same fatality as the LED.

So I've written it up, written up a shopping list and will order parts this evening to replace both the remaining pass transistors and capacitors including new mounting hardware and wiring. Should cost about £5 delivered from bitsbox after I've dug through and filtered out stuff I already have.

You've saved me from myself. I almost posted a "somebody buy that so I don't have to" message because I don't trust myself. I almost bought it. I had to wander into the TEA room, look at the 6236B and the other 5 HP PSUs that I've got to persuade me that I don't really need another. At the moment. Even at that price.
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

I'd have bought it, were it not for the horrendous shipping across the pond. And the fact I have a massive order of sh...tuff on the way to make that old monoblock amp into a 3-output PSU.

And the shipping.  :-DD
