Title: Testing a 12GHz to 18GHz Microwave Signal Generator
Post by: Terabyte2007 on September 16, 2014, 11:02:24 am
Is there anyway to effectively test the output of a 12-18GHz MW signal generator without having test gear that is capable of measuring the AM/FM modulation of this frequency?

Any help would be great.

What do you want to test? Frequency, power, modulation, all of the above?

All if possible, but mostly frequency and power.

Very simple solution is harmonic mixer and conventional RF generator as heterodyne for harmonic mixer. Output from harmonic mixer connect to conventional spectrum analyzer  or DSO with FFT or PC audio card with software FFT.
