Title: Texio CS-4125A oscilloscope, is it good?
Post by: VEGETA on January 30, 2021, 08:46:13 pm
Hello,

As title says, I found this Texio CS-4125A analog oscilloscope locally in Jordan where no one sells these things. So no scopes in the market, anything I want I would have to get from outside. But looks like this guy wants to sell it.

after negotiating with him, final offer he wants is about 105$ for it. Is it worth it? it is fully functional with 2 probes and near-perfect condition as seen in pictures here (https://jo.opensooq.com/ar/search/139119964/%D8%AC%D9%87%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%85-%D8%A5%D8%B4%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A9-oscilloscope-%D8%A8%D8%AD%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D9%83%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A9).

I need a scope really but now no money to spend. I want DS1054Z but it would cost near 620$ to get it here to Jordan due to shipping and customs. No way I can afford that.

If anyone had an experience with this scope, please inform me. I want to measure stuff like PSU ripple and noise + many stuff. As I have a retro console PSU product I made and want to sell in order to get enough money to buy a digital scope.

regards

I cannot get the price down more.

I couldn't find the typical pricing for such a model online, so I am confused a bit.

How much would it cost to get a Hantek 2C42 or Fnirsi ADS1013D?
Then you could compare prices and capabilities.

Those are not bench scopes but handhelds. Anyway the pricing (including shipping + customs) for Hantek is about 230$ and the other one is gonna be more. If I wanna pay that, I would add more and wait to get proper DS1054Z.

That is Kenwood scope with the same name (TEXIO Kenwood CS-4125A).
It is very basic 20 MHz analog scope. It is very limited. 100 USD is not very good money..
There is a service manual available..
Even  Hantek 2C42 or Fnirsi ADS1013D would be more capable than this.

well, getting those Hantek and Fnirsi is gonna be 3 times more expensive, this is the issue. If I am gonna get something in the 200$ range (includes shipping and customs) then I will get a Hantek or Owon USB isolated scope.

the keyword is money and availability here.

my goal is to get DS1054Z scope in the future, so now I'd be happy with a CRO.

Then I guess your options is to get this scope, or
wait for a better priced scope. And maybe you could
ask the seller to show photos of the scope working
(both channels).

he reported that it works 100% and it is in perfect condition too. I wanted to get it for 50 JDs which is about 70 USD but couldn't convince him.

Here is the search for scopes locally: here (https://jo.opensooq.com/ar/find?have_images=&allposts=&onlyPremiumAds=&onlyDonation=&onlyPrice=&onlyUrgent=&onlyShops=&onlyMemberships=&onlyBuynow=&memberId=&sort=record_posted_date.desc&term=oscilloscope&cat_id=&scid=&city=).

as you see, the first one is what I want.. 100 JDs is the old pricing though, current one is 75 JDs (105$). the rest are a 2-channel digital one which is not cheap and not 4 channels... and the last one is a very pricey analog scope, model is metrix ox8050.

This didn't work as the buyer refused to sell. No other analog oscilloscope found to be working.

However I found a hammatek dos1102 scope for 80 just... about 113 usd and the seller sent it for repair since it does not power on. It will be working again hopefully.

No other option is found so is this scope good ?
