Hey guys!
I posted a couple times and read a lot of threads looking for advice on what gear to pick and how to design my bench.
I am super happy with how it turned out.
I couldn't find a ready-made shelf that I liked so I made my own.
Thank you all for all the help and great information!

Don't forget to take an "after" photo with wires all over the place, components strewn everywhere, and numerous scorch marks on the table. :D

are you not doing any soldering?

1. Residue of solder splatters.
2. Soldering station. Rework station.
3. Power supply. They don't run on air...
4. Outlet strips. The entire length of desk. How many do you need? N+1. N is how many you can afford.
5. Anti static mat. Or at least blue formaica.
6. Components in the drawers. And some sort of labeling. A lot of crossing out and rewriting establishes fecundity.
7. A few holes for the PCB drill that you lost control of (and you could find the wood spacer you keep for that).
8. Somewhere for snips and pliers and crimper etc.
9. Rolls of wire?
10. Laptop or old desktop for development.
11. Vise. Or at the very least a panavise.
12. Residue from electrolytic capacitors connected reverse polarity to power supply. Ditto fire marks for tantalum caps.
13. A hammer to widlarize misbehaving components.
14. A pile of soon to be completed projects. The ones at the bottom of the pile are missing components OOP since 1984.
15. A scope. Or at least optivisors. So visitors will assume you can solder SMD.
16. Probes. How can you probe if you don't have probes?
17. Periodic table of the elements poster - or 8051 op codes poster. Both useless but impress those of little technical prowess.
18. Cat. DMM probes. Grabbers. A DMM without probes is like a refrigerator without food.

Acceptable substitutes for #17 are Dave's Electromagnetic Radiation poster or our Canadian Spectrum Allocation poster which is available here: http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf10759.html (http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf10759.html) . Of course, either one has to be printed with the long dimension of at least one meter.

Lol I bought a ESD mat and then bought a cutting board to protect the mat that I bought to protect the table.. I feel like that is gonna change at the first scorch mark
Remember, if you can see the bench, you need more stuff!

What's pretty funny is that I have two plastic drawer bins, a Fluke 87V, a Rigol DG1022, a GW GPD-3303S, a Rigol DS1102E on my at-home electronics workbench.
