Hi,
This video features Hioki DT4261 and CM4141-50 from new series of Hioki DMMs, that utilize sophisticated ADC that enables them to perform THD calculations with 0,01% resolution, that can be seen only in industrial analyzers. Having this ability packed in classic hand multimeter or classic clamp meter enables electricians to have 2 in 1 device, that could in many cases substitute for expensive portable power analyzers for field use. Finding the root cause of the problem with field multimeter, one is then able to order company for (expensive) thorough network analysis at the right place, so counter-measures are applied.
Video has chapters markers and contains following:
- Basics about FFT so that we understand definition of THD.
- What problems does high THD cause to production lines, power factor capacitors, or LEDs and UPS
- How THD is usually measured, and how to measure it with Hioki DMM / clamp meter
- How exactly does the THD measurement in app work (demonstration)
- How can we fight against THD, so that we can lower it, or suppress them for sensitive devices
Please apologize for not having footage from electrical distribution room. I have actually recorded one, but with forehead camera w/ low quality. Since I am professional electrician, being distracted by cameras on tripods during working near live busbars is no-go for me. So the video is more like sitting and talking. I hope you understand.
