Title: Uni-t UT203 Clamp Multimeter Teardown
Post by: electronupdate on March 02, 2013, 06:57:57 pm
Bought this multimeter for it's ability to measure higher DC currents.  When I tore it down it was better than  I expected... much better than my previous buy of a no-name "CP-05" which was entirely hand soldered. Not really sure where UNI-T fits in the spectrum of quality, but this one seems better than bottom-of-the-barrel, which suprised me as it was only $35.00.

Very nice, but I would prefer the 204 as it comes with true RMS capability.

Of course your needs will determine the model you want! The UT204 has TRMS, but does not have capacitance nor temperature which the UT204A . Who is it that says "horses for courses"?

Hi i have UT204A clamp meter it fell softly and now when i press the select or rel or hold button it beeps sometimes display goes crazy and shuts down. I have cleaned the connections on the pcb, measured the transistors with diode test directly on the board all 'Y1' SMD transistors have short between 2 pins. What could be the problem if someone knows please help somehow thanks and take care.
