UNI-T UTG932E Ground Reference
« on: January 23, 2024, 08:32:21 am »
I'm using the UTG932e with the supplied USB power adapter (no earth reference).

When using the UTG932 to frequency sweep audio amplifiers there is 60Hz noise on the output of the amplifier. Grounding the BNC of the UTG932e to my PS ground which is earth referenced the noise goes away.

What's the best way to reference this thing to earth? Simply buy another power adapter that has 3 prongs?

I also thought about building an isolated DC/DC supply that would essentially float the scope as there is no issue when I use a USB power bank.

Just have something grounded,  The generator, the amplifier or the 'scope.

A USB PSU with 3 prongs does not necessarily carry the ground through to the DC side.
