Ok I just re-installed the latest firmware and now SCPI is working fine via the web page. Not sure what happened but almost certainly a case of PICNIC   :palm:

Thanks to all that contributed to the keygen python script. My new SDS804X HD is now convinced he's a SDS824x HD   :-DD

But one thing I have noticed which may have already been reported; Before I did the upgrades I updated the firmware to V1.1.3.8. I would not advise doing this. The SCPI web interface doesn't work and also when you come to activate the software options you will not see any options available in the drop down list in the scope UI. After puzzling over this I downgraded back to V1.1.3.6 and then SCPI works and the software options were visible. So I think, based on this, V1.1.3.8 firmware has some issues. I will wait until the next release until updating further.

Just a counterpoint :) Didn't see the above post before updating a SDS804X with firmware 1.1.3.8 myself.

It was completely straightforward. I connected the Siglent SDS804X HD to my switch, found the ip address and used Edge to access the scope 'homepage'. From here I updated the firmware from 1.1.3.6 to 1.1.3.8. Then I did the SCPI prompts to find the model/ID etc, plugged those into the script and got the 200M key, which I send (still using Edge). I rebooted the oscilloscope, and performed a calibration.

No issues. The scope reports as a SDS824X HD and seems to behave as such. Though to be honest, I don't really know how to tell the difference :)

I didn't bother with the 70->100->200 jump, because others has reported jumping directly works fine. I used Edge because I don't use that to browse, and it is therefor pristine without extensions (I have had issues using Firefox or Chrome on other network attached devices. But Edge usually works).

FG and LA optional licenses are the standard coding for SAG1021I and SLA1016 HW support.
Both of these licenses have been removed in 1.1.3.8 firmware and are now standard features.

Hello,
did anyone succeed using the keygen for older SDS2204X (non-plus) scope? I have Ethernet hooked up, but it doesn't connect over Telnet (5024 and 5025 ports) as well as no web-interface. It responds to ping tho.

Edit2 - I find it very interesting that Siglent continues to use the same licensing / model encryption schema for their entry level gear...  The SDS800X-HD is obviously running newer OS code and you would have thought they would have secured this backdoor knowing so many people have taken advantage of it over the years.  Though I am very glad they have continued to do so ;-)

From talking to folks who produce another product that follows this model, their position is that it's not really cutting into sales and if people want to void their warranty that way it's none of their concern.  It keeps honest buyers honest and that's good enough.

I'm having some trouble using the upgrade script. It seems the new SDS804X HD firmware version 3.8.12.1.1.3.8 has blocked the ability to upgrade?

The PA option works, but then the upgrade box is greyed out.

Has anyone had any luck with the newer firmware builds?

Yeah the PA option works, but there isn’t a drop down box to select any bandwidth options. When I entered these previously it returned an error, but now the option has been removed after I entered the PA keygen.

There never has been.

You need to be more creative and do some more study.

same here  never saw any dropdown,   only timed "count downs" ones until you unlock them ...

updated  bw  on many Siglent stuff,  yes the v1 licensing script or variants / unified ones

the only "touchy" one / one(s) in my case was the ssg3000x series, had to enter the upgrade bw key thru the front touch panel

So far any fw updates done, up to this day haven't blocked any bw mods  ...

The box is grayed out because all upgrade options are unlocked  :)

Thanks all, I thought that it was possible through the front screen, but as Dave says 'RTFM'.

If anyone hasn't figured it out for the SDS800X:

Official Upgrades (i.e PA)       =>  Can be done through the front screen
Unofficial (i.e BW upgrades)  =>   Only Through SCPI commands  (MCBD <key>)

In the code it says that you can upgrade the SDG2042, I am currently tying to do the same thing, however I am having some trouble sending the commands/getting it to work. I put in the SN into the script, the numbers I got out look correct, but I can't get the SCPI command to send the key to the function gen to work. What SCPI command did you use when sending the key to the device? (I was using the code for "120M", and connected to the IP of the Function Gen using putty, with telnet, port 5024). Anyone know why this is not working?

Did you enable the options individually or did you use "All"?
If you enable individually, you need to use the keys generated by CAT to get the Refl unlocked.

Greetings!

I've run the script for my SDS804X-HD and was able to successfully upgrade my bandwidth to 200MHz.  System info shows SDS824X-HD as expected.  I'm running firmware 1.1.3.6.  When I send the MCBD scpi command with the key for PWA it says it was sent successfully however under software options Power Analysis is still listed as temporary.  I've tried both the codes for PWA and PA and while both say they ran ok the option is still listed as temporary.  Any ideas?

Edit: I upgraded to 1.1.3.8.  Re-issued the MCBD keys, still no luck.  The LA and AWG options are no longer there, as expected.  Power analysis is still temporary...

As I've gone through the process of "enhancing the capabilities" of my various Siglent equipment by entering mysterious keys into them, I - like many others - had to stumble through literally hundreds of pages in years-long threads where the process has changed over the years.  There seem to be an unlimited number of keygen scripts out there - some work for some models, some work for others.

The basic key generation methodology only differs slightly between models.  I kept pretty meticulous notes as I went about the process and I now have a "unified" script that will generate keys for the following models:
  • SDG2000X
  • SDS1000X-E
  • SDS2000X+
  • SDS800X-HD *-should work
  • SSA3000X_Plus
  • SVA1000X

I know this script to work for generating keys for these models because I have used it to "enhance the capabilities" of the models shown above personally and I've determined precisely which information is required for each model, how to obtain that information, how to use the information to generate the keys, and how to enter the keys into the various models.  The instructions in the script are precisely how I went about things with success.  Of course, YMMV.  This script is provided without warranty, yada, yada, yada...  Use at your own risk.  My offer of some lines of Python3 code does not imply my offer of support for that code.  8) Of course, $$$ changes everything! :-DD

Just to report a slight discrepancy but overall success.

I'm enhancing an SDG2082X

I did a firmware update and am now at 2.01.01.38R4.
Telnet is OK, but I haven't been able to connect to the SDG with a browser; the Sys info says the serial number is

MCBD? shows                      KI3Z7699BUZPCX
The script produces 80M   9TKI3Z7699BUZPCX with 'Keygen' commented out or = 1 or 3.

This is so close that I figured it must be working.

The script says  120M  33ZQ9C396AP3UNXA

I used

I was still in the network setup screen, but I could not leave it. After a power cycle, things acted normally and I could dial in 120 MHz.

i think a date or a version numbering should be put on the 1st line to avoid or mistakenly use the wrong version / or less updated one ??
