USB to IR interface adapter for Fluke (and not only)
(1/2) > >>

Today I finished assembling my USB - otpisolated UART converter for connecting Fluke measuring devices with IR interface to PC.
I have tested it on Fluke 289, but all Fluke meters with this communication interface can be connected to PC thru this adapter.
PCB was completely developed by me for using with FTDI FT232RL chip and TI open collector/drain or push pull comparators for logic level converting. Micro USB socket placed on front of board for connecting to PC. I decided to place IR emitting diode and photodiode on bottom side, but placement in parallel to PCB like in original converter also can be done. Either T1 or T1-3/4 packages diodes can be used as well.

With small T1 diodes I find my IR interface adapter very useful with Fluke 287/289. The main idea was place board on top of device to have compact solution even for storing meter with connected adapter. To be honestly, I like it more than original Fluke IR189USB interface cable solution.  :P

Very nice design there! Now you need to CNC a nice enclosure.

Well done. What IR detector and transmitter leds did you use?
