Hi.
I found an offer for Keithley 2001, probably an old one, cosmetically not in a great condition but ok, last calibration was less than a year ago, it is around 1200 usd. I am looking for a better than average 6.5 or maybe 7.5, and I was thinking 34465A or 34470A new. What do you think ? Thanks.

Well, here in germany a brand-new Keithley 6500 DMM is 855.46 Eur. excluding VAT- and a Keysight 34465A is 1,318.49 EUR excl. VAT- from a reputable seller that is also allowed to carry the new Brymen 786/EEV edition...
So for 1200 USD for used hardware, you can probably get new equipment, and for around 150 extra, you get a fresh calibration.
For me the price difference would be an indicator to buy new with guarantee, especially when the used device seems to be somewhat heavily used.

The Keithley 2001 is a rather old design with still only a LM399 ref. and kind of noisy.
It was quite expensive when it was new, but technology has improved since than. Many units would need new caps - or may allready have them.
It may have a few good spots with high resistance, but I don't see many good points compared to a modern 6 digit meter, like 34465 (or 34461) or DMM6500.

Thanks for the quick feedback.

I would get Keysight 34465A in that price range..
While Kethley DMM6500 looks like a very good deal for a very modern meter, there have been many problems with it, and later calibration is more expensive than Keysight....
Keysight 34465A is very solid and just works...
