Fluke 45 DMM - RF interference
« on: June 05, 2015, 05:10:47 pm »
Nothing wrong or to fix (I think). Just something that surprise me.

I put a VHF aerial band receiver next to the fluke by chance. Then I surprised that the fluke radiomagnetic noise it´s enough to opens the squel limit of the receiver. And it´s perfectly audible the noise at every measurement refresh.

I´m not sure if it´s better or not to know about radiomagnetic contamination...

Yes.  I have two of them in my shop, and experience the same thing.  There isn't much shielding on either the display or microprocessor clocks.  I can easily pick up noise from them with just a loop on my 'scope probe.  I have learned to shut them off (as well as any other unnecessary equipment) when making sensitive measurements.  :-//
