A seller locally has an Instek GOS-622G analog scope, new old stock for $150. I'm tempted to get it for an audio project I'm working on (long story, but I'm comparing the phase relationship between two signals), so I don't need anything too outrageous. What led me here was actually an old HP 1741A scope, but the local seller does not even know if it works. (And the last thing I need is another "fix up" project I may not even get around to, although I'd like to own a nice one like that, or a Tektronix, but it's not in the budget!)
I saw mixed opinions on the Instek scopes here, so I am hesitant to pick this one up. But I've seen it and it is unused and works properly. I just need to get a set of probes for it. I had also looked at some of those USB scopes like the Hantek which I could use on the laptop, but reviews on those ran hot and cold and having never used one, I am not certain of how well it performs and what kind of trace resolution it has (IOW, I want a smooth looking trace...it seems the software is the limitation). That makes me wonder if the Instek might be a better bet. There is nothing else locally at the moment for the price, except for some ratty older scopes.
Any opinions on this particular model? I did not have any luck searching here for it. Thanks!
