Modifying T12-952 soldering station for driving 2 tips

(1/7) > >>

cosmin1:
I ordered the Quicko T12-952 soldering station for a new project: soldering tweezers.
Any idea how can i power the second tip without affecting the temperature information measured by the control unit?

tooki:
Huh? Please elaborate on what you’re envisioning.

Buy another station  :palm:. You cannot connect 2 irons to a single station. And if you try, most likely something in the station will fail.

cosmin1:
Instead of one tip, i want to heat up two tips, as a desoldering tweezers for SMD.
The tweezers housing will mold it myself. Just the electronic part is a problem at the moment.
Something like this:

Second station is out of question. I won't give up, will find a proper solution.

I agree, buying a second quicko or equivalent would be the fastest solution. Or at least a second controller board, with a shared power supply. But I doubt the one you already have has the oomph to run two tips.

T12 tips have a heater in series with the thermocouple. The same two contacts are used for both purposes, which requires the controller to alternate between sampling the temperature and running the heater. So just putting two tips in parallel isn't going to work, like it might on a dumb iron. But see what you can think up now that you have an idea what you're trying to do.
